Have you run a design sprint yet?! What questions would you love answered?

AJ&Smart How do you sell Design Sprints into companies? How are you able to find companies that need this service? When your running a design sprint with new people do you feel they are most engaged from the beginning or on the day you have the prototype? Also do you find that you need most of the key stakeholders on Day 1&2 When you are building the prototype on day 3 what do you do with the stakeholders. Do they watch as your building the prototype? Sorry it’s a lot of questions lol Great video guys.

Hi, I've been trying to contact your firm to conduct a design sprint, but I keep being greeted by an answering machine that tells me you're all busy. I know being busy is a good indicator that your firm is a good service provider, but it would seem it is very difficult for new customers to get in touch with you. Could you please have someone respond to my emails or web chat, since I am having no luck via those mediums either.

I find the coordination of user testing tedious and time consuming (recruiting, vetting, etc). Have you used UserTesting.com or a similar tool? Super easy to launch prototypes anytime and to get great recorded feedback. It can also happen another day as I feel it alleviates there stress of designing / prototyping all on one day. Thoughts on that?

Love the new four day process. Had conducted a few five days sprints and they always had to run off the rails because of time / schedule constraints. Great to get everyone together those two days and then design can handle the other two days. I have also collected HMWs in advance as stakeholder interviews to capture all wish list items / ideas from all teams in order to cover all bases. That was doable when we knew what the problem to solve was in advance.

Love design sprint and the way you guys explained as followed in your agency at professional level, was marvellous. Being a designer, I can really understand how effective and a great time saver this approach is.

Can you explain a bit more about only requiring experts on Day 1 & Day 2. What does the team look like before and after that split? If the team is 7 people for day 1&2 (including decider), how many can it drop to for day 3&4 and does this require a decider? Is it better to have everyone there for entire workshop?

Love these videos! I would really like to see a video about "when is a Design Sprint appropriate?". I can't remember if it was from the Sprint book or one of the many articles floating around, but I think it's important to highlight that Design Sprints are best served for big problems. Having a video about the criteria of what warrants a Design Sprint (and just as importantly, what doesn't) would be a healthy addition to the playlist. Keep it up!

Update: I've just stumbled across the "Design Sprints - Everything you wanted to know" playlist… This video in particular sounds very relevant: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJPcfqKrhN9kjZo Nice one! Time to queue that playlist up also! Niiiiiice.

Yeah definitely! I'm making my way through the other playlist now so will let you know if there's anything I felt that was missing there. The only thing I'd want to improve upon with the Design Sprint 2.0 playlist is having more continuity between each video. For example, if each video started and ended with a reference from the previous step, then it would make a clearer link. I know that at the time of creation the order of the activities has changed (i.e. long term goal is before the map), but something that was distracting for me was that the goal and outcomes of the "long term goal" video didn't carry through to the map (or some other steps). While each video explains the purpose of each activity in the context of that video, I'd like it if it went further to clearly link up to the whole set of videos. Does that make sense? I also get that a long term goal might not necessarily be the same as a goal on the map (as we're talking about a specific flow), but in the video it makes a reference to the previous step that's not consistent.

Hello AJ&S! My question is: What's the minimum number of participants we need to have in order to run a design sprint? Is 2 a fusible number? And if the answer is not, how would Design Sprint methodology be applied on so small teams? Thank you!
@jeey60583 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you for your videos! I always take this as reference when I start a project:) My question is, how and when you would take the user interviews before the user testing in your sprint. Do you prefer to get users' ideas through a prototype testing or do you meet users before the sprint starts? Thank you for reading this question~

I'm stuck in this position where the stronger voiced are having their way and shut down almost all other ideas without considering them. Is there a way to change the mindset of these people? As they take their design ideas to an actual visual mockup but not considering other important aspects such as mobile or what content actually goes in the concept, plus we are changing something that would impact on existing and first time users where the mindset is on just one single element of this design which is very frustrating. On top of that we are using heatmaps that show existing user interactions and thinking thats all they do so we should just keep doing the same thing and focusing on this one element only.

Hi Jo, hi guys, hello everyone, I've read the books about design SPRINT and I watched almost all of your video, try to introduce about this design process to company where I work currently, but its still hard to do, it's hard to change the current culture or design process which already exist now in the company :( any suggestion? should I say "please..please..at least try it once"

Been in the same situation. It took me a long time to push through. People rarely want to change, if they don't have to they won't get interested. You need a plan to make it happen. Start with why. Why your organisation needs to do this change? Try to see the business value in it. Maybe this could give you competitive edge. Sell that thought to your leaders. Get some allies on your side. That's the first concrete step. It's simple steps, baby steps, experimenting, sharing, again and again.

What's the benefit of having it in 4 days instead of five? besides the obvious time commitment The reason for the question is, having longer more intensive days of work doesn't always pay off if only one more day is the expense. Did you ended up with having not enough to do in the regular 5 days design sprint?
@AJSmart5 жыл бұрын
Great question Gustavo! The Design Sprint 2.0 came to be after running many many Sprints. We found that some of the exercises took longer than necessary. We experimented, made some tweaks and reduced the amount of discussion in many stages of the Design Sprint, therefore overall cutting a day out of the process! I would recommend trying it! Jake Knapp has even said that if he were to rewrite the process, he would incorporate our changes! So you're in good hands ;)
