I've said it before and I say it again, this is the Worlds most underrated band in the History of Music. They never got their well-deserved recognition from the World, the journalists and You and Me, and thats just a pure shame because they were always under the development with their music and they evolved all the time. They put not only the beginning of Glam Rock , but also the standard and the posthumous afterwards. Slade keeps many times higher class than the RS , LZ and many other bands. To me , you are number 1, AMEN.

THE BEST song Slade could end with. One knows, from this number, that the group loved what they did, and who they were, for their audience. I'm amazed this wasn't a smash hit... It wasn't even a hit single. But it's pure perfect pop. Beautiful. All Around.

Having followed Slade since Cuz I Luv U, I never fail to be overjoyed about the fact that everyone now acknowledges what a superb foursome they were, and yes, vastly underrated in their later years. Not though, by genuine music fans and supporters, who abound here on KZbin, but by music business insiders mainly. Their objective was to give record buyers and concert-goers a great time and they did that as only Slade can.

Slade's final two singles were among the best songs they ever did. Charts don't always reward the deserving and real fans know that Slade couldn't have bowed out more brilliantly than with "Radio Wall of Sound" and "Universe". They are unfairly remembered mostly for a fairly cheesy (and by now overplayed) 1973 Christmas song - hey, it was good, but they did so much more quality material than that. They weren't the Beatles or the Rolling Stones, but I feel they deserved more cred than they got.

Great band. They could have been another Stones they were that good. The the thing was, Noddy Holder wanted his life back and rightly so. People who’ve never been in a band don’t understand, forget the money touring is an awful existence, from town to town, city to city, country to country. Noddy is a normal happy bloke who was tired of the bullshite side of the music business. Good on you Noddy! Buddy Holley was the same, he wanted to be with his wife and child and that dance party tour was to be his last and it’s a shame he didn’t finish it. He would have probably been alive today. So so sad.

I was brough up on Slade in the 80s when I was a kid. My dad listened to Slade all the time. Listening to some of their old tracks, they were a very talented band but just never got the promo in the beginning of the 90s. The record companies were more interested in promoting boy bands like Take That. Anything which makes money, no matter the quality. I saw a recording of 'Slade' in Moscow singing 'My oh my'..... It sounded awful as they were out of tune with a front man trying to sound like Noddy Holder!

I think this one didn't make it because 1991 was around the time that "Grunge" Music came along & cursed the world & killed anything associated with 80's "Hair" metal. I have just recently rediscovered Slade & I feel idiotic for not sooner, LOL. If they actually got into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame where they should already be, we might see a farewell concert or two. At least I am hoping. Dave Hill & Don Powell are still going as Slade 2, So if Noddy and Jim Lea were on board... who knows?

Not politics, we're talking about the people who control the big record company which dictated whether or not Slade would continue. The record company refused to spend the amount of money needed for Slade to have hits and maintain an international fanbase like other popular artists. The end result was Slade dissolving and Noddy left music altogether. Sadly, Slade didn't receive the support they needed from the record company, which had the ability and financial means to boost the band's stature

Frustratingly it very nearly cracked the top 75 twice in its chart run. It debuted at 76, dropped to 84 the following week, back up to 76 again in its third week then dropped back down to 91. Perhaps Polydor would have commissioned a new studio album had it charted just a little higher.
