With this bending jig you can bend your receivers perfect every time with the rails pre-installed, this is the best bending jig on the market for bending ak receiver flats, will not work with the thicker yugo flats

That looks like a modified $40 Harbor Freight bending brake.
@Duckyistrippin13 жыл бұрын
@Robalose the bar he uses is the bar that comes with the press. it just so happens to be 1.250 stock. thats why he doesnt have one that works for yugos, the bar needs to be .005 narrower.
@JagdtygerII14 жыл бұрын
Impressive bending arrangement, most deffinately faster than the shop press method. But what is the cost of the jig and does it work with the Yugoslavian 1.5mm rpk flats as well?
@xi006513 жыл бұрын
@JagdtygerII it a modified 18" harbor fright bending brake for around $38
@Duckyistrippin13 жыл бұрын
@Robalose correct. And welding in a few gussets along the back of the angel iron channel {thats what the hot spots are from. you can see them when the press is in the "open" position.} If you own a hand drill, a scribe and basic measuring tools you too can make this. A welder would be needed to added the gussets, but everyone has a friend with a mig. These jigs only work with TAPCO flats which are no longer in production. ak builder flats with prebent top rails dont have the alignment holes.

@sdelashmutt1 I ment no disrespect with the comment above. i just don't agree that, A you need a cnc mill and, B use youtube to sell your product when so many people use youtube to try and show how to make some thing. I LIKE THE DIY PART OF KZbin

So simple and easy! Good luck with your venture, I might have to buy one myself.

@GreenMeanie101 no pattern needed. take the bar thats included with the 32 dollar HF brake. Scribe a line down the center of the bar. Lay the flat on that line and scribe the locater pin holes. the bolts go through the mag well and trigger hole. he also welds some gussets in the channel of the bender, since it is constructed out of 1/4" angle iron.
@Munky33211 жыл бұрын
I agree. this jig is worth about 30-40$. the only benefit i could see to this one is the bolt rails... but even then, those are supposed to be lined up with the trunnion which can be off at times. i like to match my rails to the trunnion for ultimate reliability.

@jewls323 by using smaller screws you can do the thicker yogos ( it gives you more room to play )

No you do not need an FFL to sell an 80% receiver bent or not. As long as the receiver is not 100% complete, you can sell them without needed an FFL or special permit/license. It doesn't matter if you are in a blue or red state, read the BATF's ruling on 80% receivers. I live in CT and make 80% AK receivers as well as 80% 10/22 receivers and sell them locally and on the internet with no problems.

I went with AR and almost decided to sell off the AKs but can't, too many now rare and thus valuable ones, but I can't see major advantages to getting into AK's, other than a few in the construction process and fewer in the actual design & use...maybe the barrel is easier for caliber conversions (love to see a .44 mag AK), but doubt it: and the combloc ammo could become a problem soon, plus most is berdan primed, harder to reload.
@HeavilyArmed11 жыл бұрын
I called your shop last month, lady there said you don't make them anymore.
@megadeth2288510 жыл бұрын
so.. its a sheet metal brake.. whats different about it? added some holes for aligning the AK receiver perfectly every time without having to measure?.. and what about the top rails?
@buckeye570410 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it looks like a home build, dedicated receiver brake. email sent, would like some more info on this really. If the top rails can be bent on this too, it definitely beats the grasshopper jig and maybe the 555th too.
@GreenMeanie10113 жыл бұрын
@Robalose You would'nt have the pattern needed or the press to drill out the holes would you? It is a harbor freight press and rather make it myself.
@helipilot72711 жыл бұрын
Fantastic idea. Nice work.
@Duckyistrippin13 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind this jig ONLY works with tapco flats, which are no longer available for purchase. ak builder flats with prebent rails dont have the center alignment holes that this jig uses to locate the flat.
@HeavilyArmed11 жыл бұрын
You don't need an FFL unless you intend to manufacture for resale. For personal use you do not need an FFL. A buddy of mine makes barrels and he doesn't need an FFL but because he also builds frames and lower receivers (ARs) he needs a 01FFL and the manufacturer FFL licenses.

holy crap, and you guys do the heat treating on the flats i see...well i know what im getting with my tax return
@robinj.93293 жыл бұрын
I've heard the metal in a standard receiver is one millimeter thick. BUT, a few shops use the thicker one and a half millimeter stock. How do you handle "Heat Treatment"? Do you send that out? Or do it in your own shop?
@ohiodragndime14 жыл бұрын
WOW. i was looking at the shop press way for awhile and the jigs are what you are chargeing then you still need a press. tell me you are still selling these baby
@Munky33211 жыл бұрын
you dont reload combloc ammo. its always cheaper to get the surplus stuff. i just got 1000 each of both 5.45 and 7.62 for ~10c a round. the AK has the advantage of being able to be made in the most simplest forms -- so if there were ever a need for mass production, you'd see them pumped out in every small work shop that has a drill and hyd shop press. the only complicated part about it is the barrel. everything else can be made by home&hobby shops/machinists using basic tools.

Oddly, I've tried emailing to see about building a similar jig but haven't received a reply.
@MadMetalShop11 жыл бұрын
Ak builder jig is better. Still have to do the rails afterwards but the jig is way nicer than the one you're using. ak builder jig will do any style receiver ad puts a curve in the bottom of the receiver so when you pull the sides in to rivet, the bottom won't tweak out.

I am confused. How do you get the small bends near the edges? I have seen some 'flats' that are completely flat, yet your bending starts with those bent over edges already done. How are those bends done, or do some 'flats' some with those already done? Thanks. How much is the brake to do this?
@OuijaSTi9 жыл бұрын
tkarlmann Most flats have the top rails already bent and shaped because that is tough to do. I don't know of any pre-made jigs or fixtures to do this operation either.
@stinge6811 жыл бұрын
I doubt it that would be manufacturing a firearm and w/o the proper FFL a felony. But you can bend it for yourself in most sates.

BUT if you build a firearm using an 80% receiver, you must stamp a serial # on the receiver. All of my personal firearms which were built with 80% receivers have a SN for identification if stolen. Check the BATF's website to check the laws regarding selling of an 80% receiver or a firearm built with an 80% receiver.

@Gunther Glory You cannot sell the firearm unless you have a manufacturers license. That is highly illegal. If you can own a firearm you can build a firearm for PERSONAL USE. I'm an FFL dealer, you don't need to tell me anything about the ATF. If your weapon is stolen, the odds of it being recovered is very slim. In my state if its recovered while a felon has it, the weapon is destroyed. Criminals don't care about serial numbers. We had a firearm stolen from our store which was recovered in California. Serial numbers on both barrel and frame were not touched.
@billlopez48988 жыл бұрын

@HeavilyArmed11 жыл бұрын
If you are going to sell it, yes you need to serialize it. If you build it and plan on keeping it forever you don't. Like I said, get off KZbin, open another tab and go to atf.gov. If someone breaks into your home and steals your guns, their is no way to prove that a gun with no SN was yours. If you're a criminal, of course you wont want a gun which could be traced back to you. Once your 80% becomes 100% is becomes a firearm and all laws and bans apply.
