Be careful with that harbor freight press ...had one of the height adjustment pins explode when pressing a wheel bearing...pins look good on outside but inside they look like cheap pot metal

so is the ak-74 is no different then the akm? Becuase I was thinking about building an ak-74 but I don’t wanna buy the wrong parts.

It's really similar with a slightly different safety selector.

Was this a "real" Tantal? The Tantal is different from the AKM; this looks like you just built a regular AK-74, but with a Tantal stock. I believe the Tantal has different holes, different selectors, etc. You use a different drilling jig for the selector holes on a Tantal. Yours looks like it's drilled for the standard AKM/AK74

Yeah we ended up doing a Tantal 74 really, from a tantal kit.

Is the receiver heat treated? I thought heat treat is needed with a flat?
