I met a man that had a sks,the grand daddy to the ak47.he lost it over board in the river back of his property.he located the best diver he knew.he dove and dove and dove and soon.theynever found it.1year later we had a scorching hot drought it didn't rain much at all July and hugest.100 to 110 most of the time.wnen he found it was just laying there in the mud in plain sight.he took it apart,cleaned it and oiled it.and said I wonder if I will have to buy any small parts.it shoots as good as ever.its fugly.but it shoots.i know own 4sks rifles.

I wonder how it would prefer with an extra power recoil spring. No one has done a mud test like that yet.

I've seen a few of these and it seems like the extractor getting jammed up is the biggest failure point.

Never totally dunked mine in the mud, but it’s never given me any trouble in sand, even after I accidentally ran it over with a four wheeler. Cold is certainly not an issue even down to -50°F, but I use hardly any lubricant at all at those temps.
