STG-44 was WAY a ahead of its era, and with few differences. AK has a rotating bolt with the carrier system on top. Other than a modern gas cylinder, it's almost the same rifle, but updated.

StG wasn't designed to last long. It's war time product made out of cheap materials, but it outlast its predictable time. AK's barrels wear out after 5k shots which is really bad for post-war weapons.

@@XtreeM_FaiL while that may be true, I'm more interested in the design than the specifics. If you use an ak47 design with modern or high quality alloys, you will generally get a more robust product

Like, if you are implying that those listed guns are better or more reliable, that's moot because all of them were designed a decade or two after the AK. While my point is simply that it is an ingenious, low cost, reliable improvement on the 44. It would be like saying an F-22 is better than an F4 phantom. Like, duh?

As an owner of both while I agree with the statement it’s grossly over simplified my m1 serial number dates to 1942 and my akm is a modern production PSA AKM the AK however is a cannon fodder POS and that’s not a jab at PSA for making shit the m1 is far finer piece of equipment as for the main difference the bolt and carrier of the AK as the m1 the bolt doesn’t just rotate and unlock but also falls in the rear of the receiver

​@@nooneimportant4335 I dont think its a fair comparson because a garand is a semi auto and the ak is a fully auto gun by design. the ak also has a mag that allows quicker reloads and that holds 30 rounds. The garand holds 8 rounds. I love garand but the ak is a better war weapon. Its a full auto 30-30 pretty much.

They are not different weapons, they both work on the same principle! The Stg. 44 was developed under high pressure during the war, while the AK47 was only built after the war.
