Naw, just a good hammer and some punches! Haha. A press if you want to do it right
@jsslandro4 жыл бұрын
The ak is the opposite of that. The Viet cong fixed them with sticks and stones. Same thing in middle east. The NATO guns are the ones that need special tools and all that stuff that gets lost. The ak was designed for people who have never held a gun before to go into battle with. For lack of a better term they are "bulletproof", and a 3rd world farmer can fix them and make them rock and roll. Not as accurate as an M1A, but that rifle has alot more machining involved and is harder to fix. That's why they cost thousands and ak's are stamped to loose tolerances. The ak is a 100 dollar rifle. The internet is what made them astronomical in price.
@jsslandro4 жыл бұрын
Heres good advice. Don't watch gun channels to make a decision. Ask war vets. They will tell you bottl9m line, battle proven info without all the hairsplitting. Take for example AR vs ak. Well for 5000 dollars, a 308 AR takes the cake. If AKs were sold at the price they were built for, then there would be a contest. Don't spend thousands on an ak. That's just price gouging. If I had spent a half mil or whatever for a shipping container full of ak's back in like 89 to 92, I'd be a millionaire right now. In 89 I could mail order a real, top quality ak for 100 or 200 bucks. That's when they were fairly priced. Now they are way too much. If I wanted to sell you a new cadillac for 50 grand, or a new Honda civic For the same price. I'd tell you the civic lasts a very long time and is cheap to fix. That doesn't make it worth the same as a new caddy.

I'm looking at a gas block/fsb combo for my AK. Some sites say that their product works with 90 degree gas ports or 45 degree gas ports "with some gunsmithing". Do you know what they're referring to? Would it be a modification to the gas block or the barrel?
@GunsWithGage5 жыл бұрын
I hope this reply isn't too late, this gas block works with both styles. The barrel has either a 90 degree or 45 degree port. It will almost always be a 45 degree port.

The gas tube and handguard are for the amd 65 . The gas tube has no handguard retainers and the lower handguard is just a stamped piece of sheet metal. The gas tube is only for the amd 65. it will not except regular akm furniture with out modifying .

I am having consistent failure to feed issues with my 5.56 AK, especially noticeable when I use .223 brass. Would 1 ton press be enough to remove FSB from PSA AK-103? Thanks in advance!
@jjsemperfi5 жыл бұрын
So I’m comparing this to the KNS piston and I like the idea of a block better. The piston just blows off gas into the atmosphere where as the gas block actually restricts gas from even entering the system. Gas Block should be quieter and cleaner running suppressed. I just wish they weren’t so damn expensive. I’m looking into making my own adjustable block at the moment.
@GunsWithGage5 жыл бұрын
This is a much better option. But the BEST option is running an OSS suppressor. Using both makes a perfect combo. I have messed with a few design, and this is my favorite. I know the developer of the KNS system, I got to shoot on the same team in the Kalashbash competition this year. The adjustable piston is great for those who dont have the tools or know how to replace a front sight.

From your experience does it scar the barrel coating? I'm asking because I just bought a WASR-10 Romanian. Century Arms neutered the Ak and has no bayonet lug. I want to swap out the gas block so it can take a bayonet. Should I buy the a used surplus one for $35 and expect to refinish the AK -or- buy a $50 NEW unused gas block and install that and hope for perfection?

Buy a surplus gas block for sure. The new one will damage your finish almost definitely. I wouldn't worry about the finish anyway though.
