The whole mud test thing reminded me about first Chechen war back in 1995. Lets say, a friend of mine was there in the first days. It was a total mess. They threw his platoon in the Grozny city with just what they have with them in they usual days. No supplies, no logistic, no backup. Not even a damn food and water. And there were no water supplies in the city too. So its already a week of heavy fights, and they all were covered in mud, blood and burnt. They also had nothing to clean they guns (they had AKS-74). Their AK's were so dirty after that much firing that when they cooled down (it was winter) it was nearly impossible to rack the gun. They had to use their foot to cock the shutter back and forth, and there were so much sparkles when it fired. But AK still worked. They used baking soda to clean it and sunflower oil they found in kitchens to grease it. But AK still did its job.

I GOT IT The riser for the IR laser would actually be better suited for a mounted, wait for it, RANGEFINDER. It's closer to your optic and sits above the height your IR laser would reach. This puts the mounted rangefinder higher to your optic, giving you a more accurate read to where your optic is pointing at and stays high enough that you could mount your IR laser so that it's still closer to your barrel placement to keep it where you're pointing accurate. OR It's so you can have your IR laser higher for when you're shooting further downrange with a rifle without higher-powered optics, so that your IR laser can be closer to zero with +300m ranged targets & beyond. *Pops Busch Light* That'll be $399 plus shipping & handling.

In regards to the weird looking optic and laser mount, here is the idea: It's designed for a dedicated night vision short barreled rifle. On shorter rifles with shorter hand guards this mount allows the shooter to grip the rifle a little further out where the laser would normally take up real estate. The height of the optic is for passive aiming with NVGs on your head. It looks dumb, and it's a very limited use item, but the idea behind it is well thought out and practical.

Haha, I love Brandon's description of the fudlore. I really wasn't surprised or upset by how the ARs and AKs performed. For my own curiosity sake though, I wish Garand Thumb would add the Robinson Arms XCR-L to the list of rifles he tests, I would be very curious to see how it holds up since it is a mixture of both the AR and AK platform.

The star trek optic riser looking thing is from GBRS Group and what its intended purpose is is to free up rail space that IR devices take up. This is especially useful on small PDW platforms or real short .300 BO or even something like the 416C. This allows the users hands to have optimal placement. Often times you’ll see professionals running the IR device way back and control hand forward. This allows for better recoil management but in-turn the user risks blocking the emissions of the IR device. Now this won’t be an issue that the IR device is elevated.

The frozen ar doesn't surprise me. When I bought may ar pistol, I did a clean and lubrication before firing it for the first time. When i did it was -10F it froze up almost immediately. I had to manually operate the bolt to get it to feed. After one 30rd mag, it finally cycled for 3rds. I did get it to run, but it took quite a while. My M4 carbine that i have had for years oddly enough had no problem running. Same time cleaned and lubed. It in amazing what a bit of wear will do.
@rwt88513 жыл бұрын
You want to stop that? living in northwestern South Dakota I leave all our coyote ar's in our wheeler's year-round and it gets really cold here. I lube them with dex 6 automatic tranny fluid, 2 reasons one it doesn't freeze up until around -60f, and all the detergents in it also helps keep them a little cleaner. Also my ar's are not the cheapest of cheap crap meaning there not filled with mystery parts. I change out some parts for what i think are better manufactured name brand parts. I don't know if that helps but it makes me feel better and all of them run every time in the cold winter here. Oh yea and our wheelers here don't have cabs or tops.

Interesting halo fact for those who where wondering. The MA5B individual combat system (assault rifle) is a gas operated, rotating bolt, bullpup fully automatic rifle cambered in 7.62. At a impressive 900 rounds per minute fire rate (15 per second) the assault rifle white literally tears the enemy apart, this why it is so effective against even the strongest of aliens at close range.

(I own a M1A due to nostalgia of competing with them many moons ago) I have much better rifles than that but it is a fun range rifle. For those that think they are all that and are upset how the test turned out, why are you surprised? Seriously? That's about as exposed as a system can get. Nah, if it came down to it I'll stick with my AR's.

That riser actually makes sense. Super high for head-up and passive aiming but has the raised peq mount to keep the rifle balanced by not mounting the peq at the very front. And it’s raised so that you can still get your hand on the rifle without blocking the peq. Also looks like if you flip it around you can use it like a KAC skyscraper and run a magnifier on the raised pic section.

Knowing all the results so far, how do you think the Direct gas impingement AK from TINC in Slovenia would fare? Based on guntube so far that means it has the mud self cleaning of ARs, with the unfreezable hammer and firing pin of AKs, could absolutely demolish both tests if so.
@rodiculous94643 жыл бұрын
Wrong on multiple levels. For starters the ar15 uses an internal piston in the carrier, (i.e. the bolt itself) its not "direct impingement". Because of this the gas bleeds out from vent holes in the side of the bolt carrier which have some advantage in blowing away the mud. The tinck uses an *actual* direct impingement similar to the mas-49 which offers no such advantage. Secondly the mud issue with the AK is caused by having ingress points into the receiver, it has nothing to do with the gas system. The hk 416 has a gas piston system and performed just as well as the normal ar15s. That was because the mud never got into the receiver not because of the gas system.
@Rokkerhead3 жыл бұрын
