Got a few comments advocating for reloading with the right hand only so I have a separate video addressing that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHbSn6hnerSgqKs

I like your videos because they are loaded with sound advice and information. Always straight to the point with no gimmick intros.

Or the super secret third method and my favorite, reload just like your underhand, then shoulder the rifle, and with the fire control hand you then rack the action. In my experience I’ve noticed this leaves me with the most flexibility after completing the reload and is slightly faster shot to shot if I’m trying to get rifle up hastily.
@Feldmutze2 ай бұрын
I dunno, I think regardless of any other technique, you'd be faster practicing doing the whole process with either your support hand only or firing hand only instead of switching between the two since that's more movement and it's switching the balance more.
@claymore23232 ай бұрын
Always remember that 1 as the fallout 3 Chinese reload ha. I like it because its pretty fool proof, but think the under has the potential to be the fastest.
@88kar882 ай бұрын
I like this method too.
@ReapingRose1152 ай бұрын
@@Feldmutze It really depends, some shooters found that because it's less faffing about with fighting the balance of the rifle, you're already on target while racking the charging handle whilst it's shouldered. Do what works, practice all viable methods as they all have pros and cons. This is especially something to consider when shooting from awkward positions like prone, where the typical methods can't apply at all

I think its perfectly fine to charge with your right hand as well.

Another good video from you. Have you considered adding an extended charging handle? Tried one before?
@Feldmutze2 ай бұрын
Thanks! I'm not a fan of extended charging handles. Imo the regular charging handle profile on the AK is already almost perfect. I tried the Zenitco RP-1 a few years back and didn't like it.
@captainsewerrat2 ай бұрын
@@Feldmutze The Zenitco is definitely pretty big, there are smaller options but none that stand out too much differently. At the same time, why change it when you're happy with the original one.

Now that I shoot left handed because of damaged vision in my right eye, the AK is easy to charge. I do go under the rare times I shoot right handed these days.

Laughs in left hand. its always seemed to me the ak is a bit more left hand friendly, other then the safety and sling placement. Keep up the good content.

Personally I kinda pinch with my index and thumb, I've yet to cut myself on my dust cover that way. Full hand wrap on the charging handle just seems uncomfortable and at least I personally find just thumb to be a bit wonky, I feel like its easier to miss the handle and I have less dexterity
@Feldmutze2 ай бұрын
I used to do the same technique and it definitely works well, it's just a slight bit more movement. When I first saw the thumb technique it seemed a bit wonky to me too but once you get the hang of it, it's very repeatable since your thumb will index against the curve of the charging handle naturally which holds it in place quite well.

Can we get a video on the various shooting positions? Namely in the prone position. Its the only position I prefer the Iraqi reload since I use the magazine as my foregrip so I can have better posture for my elbows.
@Feldmutze2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll look into doing a video on that in the future. For me I use the same reload technique I showed in this video and it works great in prone too.

Charging over the rifle doesn't work for me because I have the shorter length Warsaw Pact stock lengths on my AK's and they are too short to go under my bicep, causing the rifle to rotate downward. Good video, subscribed.

When bullets start flying over your head you reload the damn rifle how your brain sees fit. This is fancy pants talk...Most likely you grab the charging handle with the same hand you inserted the magazine with and make a fist after the rifle was switched from one arm to the other without tilting everything two times unnecessarily while holding it firmly on the front handguard...
@Feldmutze2 ай бұрын
In a stressful situation you'll most likely be defaulting to your most practiced method, so while overall this is all minutia in the grand scheme of things it can be useful to try to find the most optimal methods possible and drill those in beforehand. Also on your reload method, why are you switching from one arm to another if you're using the same hand you inserted the magazine with?

@@Feldmutzeit seems like a lot of people are describing soviet reload doctrine with the ak
@BillyBob-bd1hj2 ай бұрын
It's not an AR-15, it's not designed to be operated with the left hand. Keep your left hand on the handguard, support the rear of the gun with your sling, perform the operations with your right hand.
@Feldmutze2 ай бұрын
Not true. While reloading with the firing hand is doable, it's an antiquated method and not without it's own unique shortcomings too. Both US and Russian trainers such as Center T are teaching using the support hand for reloads so you don't just need to take my word for it, it's pretty universally agreed upon even by those using it professionally.
@BillyBob-bd1hj2 ай бұрын
@@Feldmutze Please ignore the internet tactical timies and use common sense. The charging handle is on the right, just use your right hand.

I'm not doing all this weird American yoga. The support hand holds the rifle, the shooting hand chambers a round.

@@FeldmutzeMost of them are heavily influenced by western tacticool videos and practices. Right hand reloads are in AK operation manual and just plain better. Especially if mag pouches are not placed on the far left side of the torso or belt
