Nice content, as always guys. I have a SIG553 LB and a SIG 551 at home, very good rifles, not too difficult to have where I live, but they're expensive, even here, in France or Europe. Love the traditional look, green furnitures, ergonomy of the rifle in general, manufacturing quality of my SG551/553 LB, and the accuracy...is stellar. I live almost next to Swiss border, you can see lot of SG551 rifles here, because the military service is still mandatory for their citizens. Before, conscripts could bring at home their service rifle until they turn 35 (but I'm not 100% sure) but you can make a request to keep your weapon beyond the age of 35. Soldiers who do not wish to keep their weapons at home, for ethical or security reasons, can also drop off their service weapon at any logistic Base, even if citizen are required to serve complete shooting courses every year. PS:In French language, the word "assemblage" does exists and is used quite often ;) Greetings from France

Yeah, a 551 is not a 550... Sorry bud. I served in the Swiss armed forces 2000 to 2010 and had an actual STGW90, SIG550, P90, however you want to call it. It's not what is shown here... It's waaaay better ;) A SIG550 PE90 (semi auto neutered version) would be the closest a civilian could get. That's what we have when we get out of the military and decide to keep it or what sports shooters use. They also come standard with a 20" barrel.

@@XxMrRoachxXwhat is the difference between the 550 and 551 besides barrel length? I thought that they were mechanically the same?
@slavepusher10 ай бұрын
@@MrCashewkitty Differences of the 551 compared to the 550: Barrel: shorter and no grenade ring Gas Tube: shorter Piston: shorter Hand guard: shorter and no bipod Gasblock: no bayonet lug This also means that the 551 has a shorter sight radius. The 55x series is nice, but unfortunately a bit outdated and pricey compared to modern day alternatives (compatibility with accessories, weight, ergonomics) However, they are rugged, has to be since conscripts abuse the shit out of them.

The Galil comes in multiple calibers. I have it in 5.56 and 7.62X39 and only the 5.56 has last round hold open. The 308 version might also, since it has a relatively straight magazine.

As someone who owns all 3, the Galil wins for me hands down. Better ergos than the regular AK and more affordable/available than the SIG. I don’t own the Mdel 22 yet but I’m in search of a Gen 1 with 16” barrel. There are some Gen 1’s available at this very moment but in the 13” length. I may just grab it and convert the barrel. I have them both aswell also ace 8" in 5.45x39 and gen 1 7.62x51 308 20". While I will say the Galil Ace has obvious machining and fit and finish superiority. Some overlooked things the slr104fr has over any ace is easy is dissemblely (my aces especially gen 2 5.45x39 I have to have a punch and rubber hammer to remove dust cover gen1 is a bit eaiser.), cleaning rod ( I have used a cleaning rod to ram stuck cases or idiots who load a 5.56 round in a 7.62x39 mag and let it rip more than 3 times just this year), also the slr104fr has a cleaning kit in the butt stock which I have used to rip stuck cases out of the chamber. Oh and it's lighter even with a white light and red dot on ultimak. The ace is easier to reload with the charging handle on the left side but I have no issues with saftey manipulate on my slr104fr especially if it's a tactical reload and I don't have to run the charging handle. Love them both though.

I have many ak varients and the galil ace. Ace is way too heavy for the power cartrige it fires, unless its a .308 version. The 1 mil stamped standrard trunnion AKM is my favorite. Nice and light and plenty accurate.
@TheHashtagSquad2K15 Жыл бұрын
The ACE 22, which is the version they have, is just at 7lbs. That’s not heavy at all realistically. Plenty of people have ARs the same size or smaller that weigh more. That also is lighter than a standard AKM like a WASR which comes in at 7.5lbs
@xxdizannyxx Жыл бұрын
@TheHashtagSquad2K15 I call BS on that IWI claimed number. Iwi also poses that the gar 1639 is 7.5lbs (just gun), and it's BS numbers. No way 3" shorter barrel removes a pound from the gun. Even if it was right, 7.5lbs for a 13" barrel puny 5.56 shooter? Hell no, when ARs at the same price point, you can get for 6.1 or 6.2 lbs with a full damn 16" barrel. It makes no sense. x39 cartridge is a beefier cartridge that ar platforms have had a history of not being able to shoot reliably, so an akm makes sense in that caliber.
@TheHashtagSquad2K15 Жыл бұрын
@@xxdizannyxx first of all I own an ACE 22, it weighs in at 6lbs 13oz without the stock so the number isn’t that far off. Who said anything about the ACE 22 being a pound lighter than other options?? I just said it was lighter than a standard AKM…..and onto the AR comparison, cool but if you’re ok with carrying a 7.5lbs AK (with literally nothing on it) then any argument you make about weight savings is redundant
@xxdizannyxx Жыл бұрын
@TheHashtagSquad2K15 I don't. I never said I carry a 7.5pb rifle. My go-to 5.56 is 6.2lbs empty. My akm is for use inside the house. 21 acres of land I live on that I shoot 5 days a week. Actually, just last night, we had our first trespasser who was drunk and banging on all sides of the house. That was fun. Police has to come
@xxdizannyxx Жыл бұрын
@TheHashtagSquad2K15 I all bs on 6.13oz without stock. Without mag, without barrel, too? Proof or I can't believe that. Like I said I own one and hold it all the time I know it's way heavier than a akm at 16" barrel at 3" less barrel will not make it magically that much lighter. Anyway, in 2023, 7lbs is too damn much weight to fire a damn 5.56 cartridge out of 16" barrel or less. Galil is a gimmic rifle in my eyes. Not even the Israelis use them.

If y’all can get a Robinson XCR at any point in the future, that’d be cool. I’d like to see a comparison between the 556 (maybe Pmag variant) Galil and the XCR 🤷♂️

@@1911syndicate interested in the XCR's , I have owned AK47's, Meridian defense pestilence, CMMG mk47 8'', CZ Bren 2 ms 11'' AK is classic AK, Meridian defense was absolutely beautiful CZ Bren 2 - really nice controls and light weight, but pencil barrel, lack of support by CZ when there was issues with peoples (mine never had an issue) and honestly just not a fan of 2-3k+ half plastic guns. Not standard AK mags, but the mags are nice, straight insert in (no rock n lock) and last round bolt hold open, fully ambi lower. CMMG mk47 mutant, was an absolute machine beast, basically an AR10 / 15 hybrid shooting x39, heavy and super durable. CMMG just came out with their dissident version which is side charging handle and piston instead of DI / rear charging handle. I would like to try the IWI Galil Ace, XCR, SIG Spear and PWS. from what I have studied, the Galil seems to always stand out above the rest, unless its a quality built AK like Rife Dynamics / Meridian Defense etc.

Galil ace gen 5.56 with a 8 inch barrel. Because i wanted one 😂 also have the rifle in 7.62x39 love them both. On the 39 i put a steiner px4i 1=4 love that scope. On my pistol 5.56 i went with a mepro light red dot.
