How to Make an
MPC LIVE Expansion Pack
1K Subscribers FREE Samples DOWNLOAD
We hit 1K subscribers on my channel, and Lifted Noise is now considered a community by KZbin standards! In celebration I'm giving all my subscribers a free expansion pack that I've created.
You can D/L the Expansion pack here:
drive.google.com/file/d/1UVoE...
Included in the pack is a drum kit, bass keygroup and a bell keygroup made entirely of field recordings I recorded myself and then edited, processed and programmed in the MPC LIVE.
Also included in the pack is a vinyl piano keygroup and simple lead keygroup made from a single note sampled out of an old casio keyboard.
Field Recorder I used for this pack:

In this video I go over the process of creating an expansion pack on a MAC, how to load it in the MPC Software and how to export it for Standalone use inside the MPC LIVE.

I Make Beats Quick question, first let say Congratulations on reaching over 1K subscribers. I’m one of them. So my question is have you created a step by step walk thru on creating an expansion pack? If not do you see this being a tutorial your thinking about making any time soon? Secondly, can expansion pack be created in standalone mode or will you eventually have to connect to the computer to complete the process? Thanks for your time looking forward to hearing back from you on this topic (I Make Beats)

Congratz bro! If u wanna get rid of that click in the bass loop organically just zoom in a lot (like 20-30 sample points) and use a really steep fade-in and fade-out, so that the loop begins and ends at “absolute” zero db. I’m not sure if you can do that on the MPC (in theory u should be able to), but that’s how I used to get rid of any sub bass looping clicks on the DAW.

Just Downloaded your Expansion! Thanks a lot mate. I only had a try on your piano so far. Looove that sound so much, great job ✊Just for my curiosity, when I press the same keyboard touch, I get different notes depending on the velocity. Did you do that on purpose? No big deal though. Keep on man, I enjoy following your musical journey!
@LiftedNoise
@LiftedNoise 4 жыл бұрын
That's what's up man! Glad you like it. Not sure what you mean about the piano with the velocity, are you actually getting different pitches? I may have done a couple different layers but the same pitch still to get a more natural sound to it. Thanks for watching brother. It means a lot to me 🙏

Lifted Noise. I just tested another keyboard. Same thing. The issue comes from the 10th keygroup (from G#3 to Bb3). When pressing softly I get the actual note I wish. When pressing hard, I get the note pitched one semitone up. I solved it by pitching down one semitone the sample « vinylupright10 » 😅. That was a good exercice for me to work out how keygroups are built. Till next time!

Lifted Noise what’s up Hope all is well, great video . I was wondering if you may have a video on how to record and save your field sounds to prepare for sound kits or in this case Expansion packs. Also how do you make instruments like keys 🎹 trumpets 🎺 etc?
@LiftedNoise
@LiftedNoise 3 жыл бұрын
Well i haven't been doing any field recoding but how I went about it was I would plug the field recorder in through the USB and loaded the files directly from it, chopped samples from there, process with effects on the pads, flatten pad or resample, pencil icon to save files either individually or as a drum program. I also save the entire project so if I haven't completed my work i could always return to it. As far as creating instruments, here is a video I did on keygroups kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIWydJpsiaehrs0

Step 1: grab the pack, unzip, install and start banging. Sounds nice. The rises have quite a long silence in front + one of them is pretty low in volume, I have normalized it and changed the start point. What is the intent? The Lifted Bells are sweet, with some twisted character. The Casio Lead has an interesting stereo shape, I need to dig into that more for sure. And with some inserts, definitely something. Vinyl upright, sweet. I need better speakers to really enjoy the subbass but sound promising! That is a great expansion standing its ground. I am using MPC Software 2.6 on Windows 10 (as I am using a Studio Black and not a Live or X) and the pack installed flawlessly. Thanks for it! It would be worth adding previews of the kits in the expansion browser, I guess support for that appeared in like 2.5 but this is a minor detail once the kits are known but could help for discovery. (Watched the video afterwards, so, saw the warnings). FWIW I am with two kids around today and they approve of the sounds, that's telling. I am in Belgium, so I can't buy stuff using your links (or I get a ton of shipping taxes) and Amazon FR is not having the same Prime advantages as they segregate the advantages between zones. The Zoom is a cool device I have one too.
@LiftedNoise
@LiftedNoise 5 жыл бұрын
Yea I'm liking the zoom a lot. I want to make more kits! I'll definitely try the previews next time around. Glad the kids are liking the samples! I appreciate this thorough review you dropped. About the risers, there wasn't any real intent behind leaving a long tail on the beginning if the samples. This is all just been an experiment. Created a riser about 1 other time before this, in a previous video. Did you check the pad mixer, I believe I turned down the level of a few samples there when I was making a beat with the sounds just to get a ruff mix. It's all good about the links, are you looking to buy a live? Zzounds is great, hopefully you can find an equivalent. Thanks again for stopping by. Your input is invaluable.

@@LiftedNoise No live, I'll stick to my MPC Studio Black. It is small enough to come with me in the bag. And I like having all of those buttons. As far as the sub bass did you by chance try to start/end the loop very accurately on the mid line of the waveform? Zoom in mad close, and cut it where your waveform crosses the line, not above or below it, but right on it. Someone taught me that last year, and it's always worked

@@IMakeBeats yes. Technically you don't need to have the mpc connected to a computer but the mpc software, during the installation process you'll have the option of installing the expansion builder. Once installed, if you're on a MAC you can find it within the utilities folder. I demonstrate this in the video. You can do everything else in the MPC Standalone but the expansion builder is what you will use to package it all together with any artwork you create for it. To be clear, using expansions isn't a necessary thing but it is a good tool to organize your sounds and make them easily accessible and also give them a more "professional" look if you are considering distributing your kits.
