I don’t get it. Akai is not out here saying “you need this new MPC.” They’re not saying “this here is the new wave!” Ffs it’s just a commemorative model. Literally, a special edition. Like when they put out the Live II Retro, but this time the X comes with some extra RAM (the same shit keys got). There’s no controversy. Nobody wanted to talk about converters when the X came out in 2017. This is just an X. So why is everybody and they mama talking about it now? Don’t buy it!

People have alot of respect for Ski and I get that however I am wondering what his actual intention is because it seems like He is doing the classic "I got something you dont have so you all need to follow Me because your music is wack because you need what I got" style approach to building a subscriber base and this mainly appeals to young producers who dont know any better.

@@HOLLASOUNDS I been jamming Ski’s productions since I was in high school in the early 90s. I love his work. However I must say that I don’t understand why he would buy a new MPC if he knew it wasn’t going to sound like his 60, or 3000. He has a MPC X! He doesn’t need a new style MPC if he has the holy grail of MPCs. Other than that the man definitely knows his shit and his beats always been jamming.

@@leogolive Ohh ofcourse and I love the Westcoast Hiphop from the 90s and 2000s and I actually have all of Dr Dre's CDs and a whole bunch of associated artists and I will probably see EA Ski all over the production lists. As for him buying a new MPC X despite not likeing is sound quality, his answer to that is He runs it through other hardware like his mixer to fix the audio. He definitely wants to build a following on youtube but for what purpose if it's not money?
@Nitrate1984

I love that you guys stand up to fix these things, I feel most companies these days love targeting young kids and robbing their money, I'm a young guy, making EDM in the past 5 years, 1 and a half months ago I really fell in love with hip-hop. When I try to learn how to make it, some of the channels always make my mindset in you need this need that, buy this mpc buy that mpc, they almost got me, and I just learned how to make hip-hop without buying any stuff and can make some decent shit now, what I'm doing is get my ass set there and make music 30 day straight, before this akai drama I made a short video talk about how I learn to make hip-hop, the most important weapon is not any god damn equipment is your brain your mindset, back in 90s producer can't afford those shit, and but why the best hip-hop comes in that era, just think what is toys what is tools.

You said it well. Our biggest problem is the desire to promote self at any cost. We need to be careful of the influencers and hold them accountable. Always remember, if you didn't have to work for it, maybe you didn't need it. KZbin is great when you want informative content. I draw the line at promotions unless it's free to the consumer. I'll stick to unbias reviews without the camera.

It's called capitalism the engine that drives the American economy. Giving it to specific individuals for free is the company's decision to make and it does not devalue the product. It is a marketing move that works companies pay cash for advertising in this case instead of the money they gave away the MPC. At the end of the day, it's the consumer's decision to buy or not to buy I hope consumers do their research before making any purchase. I had no problem buying the MPC X SE and loving it. Music consumers don't care where the music was made and on what it was made, if they love the music that's what counts. A living room or fancy studio with fancy equipment does not determine what becomes a hit song. I know an individual who mortgaged his home for fancy equipment and can't get a decent placement. Kids on laptops making top ten hits. Stay Blessed bro and keep doing you.

I had my MPCX since late 2017 . For two years my MPCX was also my audio interface and it was tight. After 2.10 update? I could add a nicer audio interface with better converter and preamps, the MOTU M4. The difference was clearer. I could definitely hear it. It was not too much but it was there. The only MPC I ever experienced and used was MPC2000xl . I loved it but it wasn't mine. Now that I have the X, I'm not going back to the old stuff mainly because I like controller mode and drag and drop, drag and drop to my DAW to arrange. I'm faster making music from producing to master. My MPCX is set to MPC 60 vintage model as default. That's a nice looking studio.

You right about that MPC 60 mode. You can actually hear a difference when it’s on, a good difference. I’m not saying it sounds like a real 60, I’ve never even seen one in real life. But I am saying that it beefs up the sound. I can hear it.

To make a commercial and air it would cost $50k + Now all they got to do is give a machine which prob cost them $300-$600 to make? Let this YT Dude have it for free and he will make a video for you and get the word out to his fans. That's Cheap as hell compared to the old school. Sound is king.

Number one..... Akai THINKS they are on top because so many people hug their nuts to get one, and are more than happy to cheerlead for them. I have multiple samplers from different brands because it makes sense to have options when you are a person who values diversity, when you do MORE than rip records. Now for the influencers who got their skirts ruffled by EaSKi, i am sure they will get over it, because they have NO CHOICE. Akai NEVER said it was a new sampler, it's just an homage on something already here since around 2017, the MPC Only on KZbin do people who do not actually make records, who do not uSE the gear think they matter. Last time there was some fake 'controversy' it was a musician who does not use the samplers trying to 'review' one, and when the other guy said he was wrong, this whole fake 'beef' started. HOw the heck can someone be so damn stoopid to question experience and actual results??? On YouTUBE, where if you go against an OPINION,they try to debate with you. That's like me telling Ski how to mix hit records, when I only have my personal studio, because I happen to be on YT. That's just DUMB and dismissive, yet since many people tHINK they are great because of KZbin, they get sensitive. Some of these people are so weak ,thirsty, and begging for attention, they just go with the wind. I made my little bit of money and rep using Technics, and I still use them, not because of the name, it was because they GET THE JOB DONE over 40 years. Would I buy the SE? Yes if I saw it was going to add to what I already do, and make the whole workflow/sound better....MPC X was $2200...SE is $2500 for the same box... I will end with this...I OWE people like EaSki for his extensive work, so that I could take them VINYL RECORDS and please crowds, make money, and listen to some great music, and I THANK ALL of the REAL LIFE producers past and present for that.That being said, some of us will not allow some wannabees to dismiss all the hard work and dedication when even pioneers like Rossum gave us love with his machines. I mean now we have 49998888 tools, and back then we had like three. We had to cut tape, we had to handspin reels, we had to learn SMPTE, we had to use SCSI, we had to use floppies(which i still use with the ASR10),we had to use MiDi patchbays, we had to learn acoustics, signal flow, etc,and we had NO affordable music/audio schools, except if you had band /music in HS.We didn't have KZbin tutorials. We sat next to someone like EaSki checked the ego at the door and shut the fu-k up to learn. WE dared not dismiss nor disrespect a mentor, and we listened, keeping our opinion to ourselves.If MEN had something to say,we said it to your face not behind your back to others for clout. ALL of us understood what it was to be humble to be quiet, and work hard to produce results. I do not get on the turntables to dance around,I am working the records for the dancers. People who can let their skills speak for them, not just claims because we have gear.

I perfer keyboard workstations but i stil got mpc 60 and a live 2 and maschine and i also work with reason bottom line is fire wirh any of it ...its all preference and some of us older heads may not like it but milusicians felt same way when hip hop was sampling there hard work

If it isn't for you, why are you even concerned? I got a surprise for you. Every product is marketed or targeted to someone. The car you drive, the gear you use. The detergent for your laundry. Welcome to life. Want a minute. You do work. You want to get paid for it. Why are you angry that somebody wants do the same? Businesses survive by selling products. The problem isn't somebody selling something. It's the buyer's choice to buy. Anybody who makes analogies between music production equipment and illicit drugs has an issue with proportion and perspective for real. Everyone has a voice and a choice but not everyone has a platform. You are actually helping Akai sell more units. Sometimes any publicity is good publicity. There are some many problems in the black community. MPCs aren't dragging it down. If nothing else, they might keep people out of these streets. Think about that for a second.

No disrespect to EA Ski however I do not agree with that He says on software bassed sound production, basically saying it sounds bad. He spoke about how people using software need to use loads of plugins and do all sorts of stuff to make it sound good, but I dont. To get drums hitting hard its literally just a bit of EQ, some distortion and stereo panning and mixing, that's it, once done one time correctly you never forget it and can all be done with software.

The old MPC's do sound better and music from the 60s and 70s also sounds better, the new MPC's allow musicians to create a larger variety of music and not just hip-hop and rap, Akai is trying to appeal to a larger audience of music makers.
