Akai MPC X Using The CV Outputs + Moog Mother 32

I got rid of my modular setup, but having the MPC X makes me want to explore that world again, or at least a semi modular setup since the X makes it so simple to integrate into your workflow. This video just shows how the CV output works with analog gear.

With the new 2.3 firmware/software update with autosample, it would be interesting to see that done on gear like the Moog Mother & Minotaur and Make Noise 0 Coast, etc. Also triggering external hardware via midi and/or cv and mixing it with stems/samples/loops/drum sequences and mixing them and adding XY FX on the fly would be dope

Great overview saintjoe. I'm curious -- what's your audio setup looking like? Is your mother-32 hooked up to a mixer or straight into the mpc? If a mixer is involved, are you sampling off of the aux channel or something like that? I'm trying to imagine how I'd integrate something like the X in my existing setup w/ the k-mix.

Thanks for watching. My current setup is, K-Mix is a sub mixer for all of my hardware, I run it's outputs into the MPC. But the Mother 32 is going directly into input 2 on the MPC, just because I ran out of outputs on the K-Mix LOL. I have my Rhodes, an SM57, my iPad (via the irig keys i/o) and my Multitrak going into the K-Mix.

I have the MPC going into my audio interface (AudioFuse) and my monitors are connected to the audio interface.

I do not have a Neutron but I may setup the Model D. It doesn't have as much CV as the Mother 32 though

@@SoundsAndGear You're right, but that's why I kinda needed to see how someone (else) would use the Model D's CV capabilities with the MPC X to get the best results out that situation.

I honestly haven't been using the CV as much as I thought. Just the way I work I typically just record audio from my external gear into the X. I'll have to try it and see once my lab is back up and running. Had some water leakage in the basement so I'm getting some repairs done. I'm in a temp setup in the kitchen right now hahaha.

Since the mother-32 has MIDI input, you could do pitch and gate via midi and use the CV for other parameters?

Hello! I'm trying to connect my MPC One and Moog Mother but I'm a bit confused. So basically I want to use MPC as sequencer or write a melody in a midi track and I want it to be played by the Moog sound. Can I do it with the CV output or I need to use MIDI? I already have Digitone connected to MPC so the only one MIDI output is taken. I ve done what you did, but it doesn't work. However I use my audio moog cables so maybe that's a problem? Should I use one Y cable, stereo to mono? Thank you!

Yes, you can do it with CV using a CV track, you have to assign the proper CV outputs from your track, and you'll still need to have audio output from your Moog so you can hear it.

Also I have Digitone already connected to MPC, so do you think I can connect audio from Moog to Digitone input and then signal will goes from Digitone to MPC? Hello, can I pay for help on my MPC PLEASE!?!? I just got the YAMAHA MODX, got the MIDI synced and made a song, when I go to export it, it doesn't export my MODX midi sounds into audio, nor does it give me the rendered files only the Internal sounds from the MPC software get exported correctly. I'm using 16 tracks to make the beat, I see it render the 16 files but it only give me drum samples after the export. Where are the files? Why cant I hear them? Thanks

You have to record the MODX as audio

Really enjoying them so far, clarity is really good and the stereo imaging is pretty wide. Not fatiguing at all on the high end. Could use a bit more low end but I'm getting used to it.

If you want to use CV output directly from the MPC then yeah. However, if you just want to integrate with modular, you could get a MIDI to CV module and trigger it via MIDI from the Live.

I'm speaking specifically about the sound of those synths, they are more aggressive than I like, I prefer a smoother synth sound than those produce.
