Thanks for the tutorial. I wanted to add few clarifications: * MPK can receive clock via MIDI. For example if you connect MPK to a DAW like MPC, you can configure the DAW software to send MIDI Clock to the MPK. This is neat because the arpeggiator will work in sync the DAW software. * the EXCL and INCL mode control whether the arpeggiator will traverse through the notes back and forth or not.

These can be slaved to an external clock. In Reaper you select the MPK in midi device settings and enable "clock" which tells it to sync with the DAW tempo. I imagine other DAWs have this feature. PS you also need to set the clock to external in the mpk2 editor software.

Might have misunderstood, but you said there that it only has an internal clock and can't do external. I'm not sure if you can do it from the hardware alone, but with the MPK Mini editor software on the Akai site you can create programs that set the clock to external. Then if you follow whatever your DAW's process is for syncing midi clock it should respect the external clock. The only thing I can't get to work is swing. Whether I try to set it using arp on/off + corresponding swing key OR setting the default value in the editor it always stays 50%. I saw one post that said it don't apply to note repeat, but then what would it be for?

It goes up one octave and down one octave. I suggest that you play the notes and then “select all” in the software and transpose them by dragging them up or down into the key that you want them to play in.
