Really nice video, too bad that your s900 needs repair! I would like to know the bandwidth you recorded your drums on s900 and also it would be nice to show us your eq preferences before sampling.

Kicks was recorded on 8k bandwidth and snare and hihat was recorded at 10k. Valid point with that eq :)

just saw a s900 for 370 euros, locally.. hmm looking good but its 1986/87 tech.. thats when commodore 64 ruled the streets.. i think i pass this one. too primitive !!

Owning a s950 actually it has a very clean sound it’s punchy with drums the MPC 60ii is 12 bit I still have it just pulled it out recently and that machine has a clean sound as well after it’s mixed in a daw no one will really know the difference

great video man, i really like the tone of it. im considering to buy s900 for myself, i have a question for you, how do you connect it to your mpc? with midi connection? the sound comes out only in mono or can it comes out as stereo?

Yes, you must connect it with midi You have mono monophonic outputs and only ome stereo out (actually they are separated in left, right and Mix) You don't want to use stereo anyway cause you have a very limited space on it and a stereo sample would take double the space of a mono sample

Although I really like and enjoy your videos, I find that this one is a bit misleading.You should have sampled on highest bitrate on s900 since you cannot sample otherwise on MPC.You also should have resampled internally on MPC to match the lo-fi character and show the differences.External EQ-ing before sampling is also important for viewer.I salute you on gain matching but I think you ran the signal from s900 to MPC too hot, compared to the signal from mixer to MPC.Every one of these steps changes the character dramatically.These are friendly suggestions for you as I hope you'll share your great tips and tricks with us as you did so far.All the best..

Amen to that. I use my S900 for the eighties hifi character it can give drums & synths when sampling on the highest setting and controlled amount of rec level, and I don't transpose dramatically afterwards either. Often people buy a S900/S950, sample something and then gets disappointed that it sounds so 'good' when in reality there's steps you need to take to get that lofi hiphop sound.

Cenię chęci i czaję, że Ci MIDI nie działa, ale ten test ma tylko połowiczny sens. Jaki jest sens Zsamplować break'a do S900 używając kondensatorów z S900, żeby znowu przesamplować i przepuścić to przez te same kondensatory z MPC 2000 co wcześniej gdy robiłeś to zgrywajac z gramofonu prosto do MPC? To jest jak opcja resamplingu z MPC, wychodzi prawie na to samo, bo w MPC możesz w opcjach edytowania sampla przekonwertować go z 16 bitów na 12, zmienić parametry kHz z 44.100 na mniejsze i emulować brzmienie 12 bitowych maszyn. Jedyna prawdziwa i sensowna szkoła samplingu na S900 to nagranie bezpośrednio sampli do S900 i poprzez MIDI sterowanie tylko tymi samplami z S900 za pomocą MPC. Jest to dosyć upierdliwe, uciążliwe i żmudne, ale te samplery już to do siebie maja. Żeby nie było, powtarzam, wiem, ze MIDI Ci nie działa. Zaznaczam tylko, ze to nie jest tak naprawdę pełne brzmienie z S900 w tym wypadku, bo zostało to z powrotem przepuszczone przez MPC a MPC ma już swoje osobne brzmienie. Pozdro.

MPC 2000 Classic nie posiada bit-convert tak jak 2000XL. Film nie jest typowy dla tego kanału bo nie jest on "MPC 2000 vs S900". Jasno zaznaczyłem w tytule, że chodzi co może się zmienić w produkcji nawet jeśli tylko będziesz przepuszczał sample. Tak na prawdę 2000 classic służy w tym filmie jako przykład, równie dobrze mógłbym tą pętle zgrać do FL Studio :) Prawdopodobnie w tym miesiącu kupuje perfect S900 i wtedy zrobimy test prawilnie. Zdaje sobie sprawę i zgadzam się z tym co piszesz - ale pracuję z tym co mam a obecnie nie jestem w stanie zagrać dwóch nut jednocześnie na powyższej esce :) Pozdrowienia

Ale przecież o to w tym chodzi, kto ustalił jakieś reguły szkoły samplingu? :D A jakby przepuścić to jeszcze przez efektor, 2 razy zgrać z jednej do drugiej a potem np. przepuścić przez jakąś taśmę, mógłbyś spytać dlaczego? Ja odpowiem a dlaczego nie :D Dla mnie to fajny sposób żeby wykręcić coś nowego z tych maszyn, bo nie spodziewam się ze w dzisiejszych czasach jest możliwe zaskoczyć jakimiś unikatowymi complex patternami z s900, chyba że ma się wolne 2 tygodnie haha peace!

@@Hidd3nAudio Chlopie, chodzi o to, ze jeżeli chcesz otrzymać w 100% brzmienie z danego samplera w tym wypadku S900-S950, to musisz to zgrać tylko i wyłącznie do tego S900-S950 i tym sterować. Jeżeli chcesz celowo uzyskiwać inny efekt, to zupełnie inna kwestia. W takim wypadku to równie dobrze można byłoby po prostu zapiąć w Fruity Loopsie emulacje S900 na ścieżce bębnów i emulować to brzmienie ale w dalszym ciagu byłaby to tylko EMULACJA czyli udawanie brzmienia a nie oryginalne źródło. Osobna kwestia jest również to czy przeciętny odbiorca usłyszy w ogóle różnice miedzy emulacja w DAW a brzmienie z oryginalnej maszyny, bo w dzisiejszych czasach to praktycznie tego nie da się wychwycić. Zmiksować utwór można na tyle różnych sposobów, ze niezależnie od źródła da się zasymulować brzmienie taśmy, kasety, winyla czy konkretnego samplera. Nie da się jedynie zrobić tego w druga stronę, bo mając sampla w dobrej jakości zawsze możesz zbić jego jakość, ale nie na odwrót. Bo z 64kbp mp3-jki nie zrobisz krystalicznie brzmiącego 24 bitowego wave'a.

So if you use midi to trigger the s900 from the mpc to get the “full s900 sound” then what happens when you want to upload the beat online? Don’t you have to record it into something? Like a audio interface to a computer. Will it lose the s900 sound by passing it through something else?

The crunch from the 900 is great, but you’ve edited the kick so’s it’s got a much longer decay on the 900 than on the 2000, and a lot of what’s great about the 900 beat in comparison to the 2000 beat is also coming from that. You’ve taken more attack off the 2000 hihat too, so the 900 hat has more bite just because of that.

Whats wrong with everyone here? The S900 sounds exactly like the 3000. Thats coming from friends of mine who have owned a 3000 for over 15 years and repair mpcs for over 10 years. The 950 has the sample rates and the timestretch, The s900 has the mpc3000 filter and sound. And yes in this video he should have sampled into the s900 to compare properly.
