The poor people in that tower were a mix of British citizens and the relatively recently arrived. They were not forced to come here against their will. They were not seen as second class by the people living around them or the people that provided them with shelter, they were treated as Londoners like anyone else. Every single aspect of social housing is paid for by British taxpayers, of every race, so do not try to claim that because the regulations were not good enough to prevent an accident turning into a tragedy that it is somehow discrimination! Many expensive flats around the country are covered with cladding for which their residents are being told to pay five figure sums, that they do not have, to ensure their families can sleep safely. Turning Grenfell into class or race resentment will not end in anyone having better access to safe housing, it will end in a very dark place.

@@Tuncapoo If it was due to class this cladding would only have been put on buildings where poor people were expected to live. Now, taxpayers that already fund the welfare system, the Grenfell Enquiry, and the compensation to victims, are having to pay massive sums to have the cladding on their buildings removed. Everything is about class if you see the world through that prism.
