There are a million rappers spitting trash subject matter. Akala is one of the rare dudes spitting dope educational bars. I gotta give him his props for walking a unique path. It’s his thing and he’s authentic as a motherfucker. Just turn it off if you can’t connect with it. If you let your guard down and actually try to dissect the information in the bars it is dope as fuck and raw hip hop. The flow he’s doing might sound kinda wack but it’s a pretty typical drill flow where they are basically doing triplets over the beat. It can feel off kilter or rushed when you’re not familiar with it. ‘Dizzee Rascal 5 fingers of death’ is a good example of that flow too. We all so scared to learn about our past and the way corporations own us, we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.

I get you, and Akala is not a hugely successful commercial artist here in the UK. But, he’s super clever, he’s a regular guest on news programmes, speaks so well, he’s done a huge amount for the community. His track Shakespeare has one of the hardest instrumentals of all time.
