My take: Use the word if you decide to, but language is based on meaning, and meaning develops through historical events. So be prepared to deal with the consequences of your choice. Depending on the context, black people would be mistrusting of you for using it, worried you may have a racist ideology. Some may just think its a bit like when non brit people speak to brits in a british accent - in some way, weird annoying try hard participation that just comes off cheap af somehow. Some won't care. It would just make some slightly uncomfortable. As you are free to say it, I am free to react within the bounds of the law. So if you have any interest in coexisting comfortably among black people, just don't say it cause it makes many of us uncomfortable. Also, what vested interest other than it being a forbidden fruit do you have for saying it ?

I've always seen it this way: Word created and used with atrocity against black people. Then, at least from civil rights movement, the word was taken as theirs. Black America, as a whole. Since color determined life and death back then, is it not fair the words taken now, based on color? "Color" or "culture" Im white, i do not use the word. Im a rapper. I never want to use the word. Its ugly out of my mouth, but beautiful out another. It means so much today. Including, to show love and compassion. Its not going anywhere, sooo

Contextually black Brit’s or even mixed black Brit’s can not have an opinion on the reciting of the N word for their white counterparts who are also consuming music from there and from here that uses the N word? There are definitely levels of relationships to the history of the word but I don’t think it prevents the analysis of the topic.

@@mindovermatter1462 That's completely different. Making a taco has no effect on people outside of that culture. What goes on in black american culture absolutely effects black europeans outside the US because one of the US's biggest exports is their culture. Movies, songs, books etc. Trends that start in america can be seen to have an effect on how people do things in the UK.
