Yep, she was lip sync'ing Saiki. That band camp footage is out there on their Instagram feeds and gives a great insight into how they get along when off stage.

There is a fan recording of Endless Story filmed in Chicago. It was the last show of the tour after spending nearly a month in a bus traveling across America. During the video Akane breaks down and cries throughout the song. The whole story of the forming of Band-Maid is just magical and "Maid" in heaven. Akane was playing a "Cajon", basically a sit on wooden box. During Covid Kanami pushed all the members of the band including herself, which resulted in the amazing Unseen World album. I don't think it was mentioned that after the band won the Classic Rock Best New band (Far East) Jimmy Page, who was judging, was so impressed by her that he went back stage to meet her- there is a photo of their meeting.

I met the ladies at their second Dallas show. They were so nice, they are all exactly in the same in person as you see on stage. Kanami can be very bashful and soft spoken went not performing, but very kind to. Misa is actually very funny once she's comfortable with you. I can speak some Japanese, guess they were impressed an older Texas boy knew some of their lingo..lol Saiki, got a got smile when I did. Akane, in her best broken english, asked me where a good BBQ place was, I told her. Here's the funny part. Saiki and Miku told her, but you just ate. Akane laughs says so ..lol. They laughed and rolled their eyes at her..lol Sure enough after sound checks they were there. She had several empty plates in front of her. Misa was like on her 3rd beer..lol Kanami seemed to be working on music. I said hi Akane waved. Miku finally asked are you done yet, Akane smiled and kept eating..lol Before they left, I got a photo with them, and they all signed my Tee. It's funny, in it Akane is holding a half-eaten rib..lol with a little sauce on her cheek. They were so cool, no attitude at all. They truly do love their fans. They demonstrate it all the time. Ohh yess Saiki and Misa were smiling in it. I got a small wave from each at the show. I've met a lot of celebrities in my time. But I can't think of any that's as real and honestly kind and nice like they are. That besides how good their music is, is why they are so popular.

14:00 It's a percussion instrument called a cajón. Cajón means "box" in Spanish. Originally, the cajón is said to have originated in Peru, where Africans brought here as slaves began to beat chest drawers and simple wooden boxes. It is convenient to carry and is sometimes used by drummers for acoustic versions, etc. 21:37 Just for the record, this is a mouthful. Saiki is singing. If Akane was this good as a vocalist, Saiki's raison d'etre would be in jeopardy.😅 But Akane isn't tone deaf either, although she's not a gifted vocalist. There's even a song where she's in charge of the chorus in some of the acoustic versions of the music videos. Japanese girls are also accustomed to karaoke, so there are few true tone-deaf people.

Great reaction as always :) You should definitely check out Maximum the Hormone, a very popular band in japan who influenced one or two generations of rockbands. They are unique and awesome, and who won't love Nao the drummer ;)

Thank you for your reaction. IMO, don’t worry about being slightly spoiled by hearing small parts of a song. Sometimes reactors don’t get their audio recorded and I think most maidiacs rather see them doing it again a second time, and be honest about it. In that case hearing a small part of a song is, imho, not a concern. Just say that may have heard parts of it and everyone should be fine. Have fun! :)

I love all the Maids and I would love to hang out with each of them for a day, but I think Akane would be the most fun to hang out with. We silly, fun-loving sense of humor would probably keep me laughing all day. Her wacky, even corny sense of humor matches mine. Now I might go broke while keeping her fed. I wouldn't care. I love the fact that she smiles all the time while she is drumming. Her happy, sweet, and "motherly" demeanor makes her one of the Maids you can't help but love. Lanae, when you react to "Don't You Tell ME", the official music video, make sure you listen to what Akane's doing during Kanami and MISA's (yes, another conversation between the two) solos. Also look at the look on her face from a camera shot at the end of the conversation. Her joy on her face showed that she was so proud of her bandmates and realization that she helped them shine. I keep saying that Akane and MISA are the most intuitively brilliant "rhythm section" in rock and roll.

The lead vocalist of Mochi to Cheese is now in a band called East of Eden! Her name is Akane also. Check out Maximum the Hormone. They’re legendary. Oh, the song Akane-san played on piano-If I Ain’t Got You by Alicia Keys

What Akane's was drumming on during the acoustic song was a cahon. It is an open sided box that acts as a percussion instrument during a lot of acoustic songs.

I am sure you saw the girls in traditional (Giesha) outfits while watching the Akane documentary so you have to watch BAND-MAIKO. Start with "Secret Makio Lips" then " Gioncho". Would be great 2 fer.

Great reaction Lanae!! If you want to discover a couple of more fantastic Japanese drummers, in addition to Akane, please react to the Metal band Lovebites. Haruna is the drummer and you’ll love her and Lovebites as well! Second drummer to react to is Junna, please watch her drum cover of “Through The Fire And Flames” by DragonForce Band (one of the guitarist, Herman Li, was in the Akane documentary ……) or any other drum cover she did. Also Senri Kawaguchi who is listed on DrummerWorld's Top 500 Drummers of all time on their website. At one time she was the youngest person ever to be so honored. She is mostly a jazz fusion drummer. She drums for the Jazz Avengers - an all female super group from Japan. My favorite drummer in the world is Yoyoka Soma aka the Hokkaido Hammer! She is the youngest person ever to be listed on DrummerWorld's Top 500 Drummers of all time website. She was 11 when that occurred. Yoyoka does a lot of covers of classic rock and roll music in youtube. Her accomplishments and accolades are too numerous to mention here. Name a famous rock drummer and chances are she's covered their music especially John Henry Bonham of Led Zeppelin! She has moved to Los Angeles at great personal sacrifice by her whole family. Despite broken water mains, non functional gas lines (no hot water, no stove) and being trapped in a mud slide she managed to graduate 8th grade with a 4.0 GPA. She plays at least once a month at the famous Whiskey a Go Go- no rehearsal with musicians she's never met. She regularly plays and records with the Ken Okada jazz fusion group which includes Grammy award winning musicians. Her entire family are multi instrumentalists and singers. She is recording an album of original music and is working with world class producers - who've produced people like Aretha, Mariah, Whitney, Ray Charles etc. Gold records on the walls folks. She is 14. Perhaps the sweetest and hardest working musicians of her generation!

I could never get used to this order. I prefer the chronological order of how the band was founded, the members joined and how everything developed from there. I have one small criticism of all the documentaries: that they show relatively new pictures or videos of situations that happened a long time ago. That bothers me a little, but I have to admit that I'm very picky about such things, probably unlike many others.
