My favorite part was when Batman was pulling out the smoke grenade, and Superman just stared at him. Then when Batman shot Superman with the Kryptonite bullet, instead of catching and tossing it away, he just held it right in front of his face for like 3 seconds.

Can't stand the Snyder apologists. Some of the biggest Superman fans I know were dissapointed with BvS and they honestly say that. I'm a big Superman fan too. But there are these types of fanboys that just talk everything straight. It so damn stupid. They actually act like Snyder made an incredibly intelligent movie that the regular person can't understand. I understood every theme, reference, message behind the movie very well and I still think it has lots of flaws. Not saying it's overal horrible. I'd say it's okay with HORRIBLE editing. With nonsense scenes that don't make sense to the average viewer that doesn't knwo about the flash, darkseid, the omega symbol, injustice, and that the dreams were actually future scenes. It's so badly handled by Snyder. The same exact movie could've been executed way better. By setting the flash up better. Because that scene just happened. Like the first part of the movie had these random scenes that weren't being established at all. Such crappy filmmaking. And these fanboys dare to complain about the critical backlash. Sure everyone is entitled to their opinion. But claiming that the movie is beautifully edited is just bullshit. It's like saying The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had a coherent plot. Or that Spider-Man 3 made perfect use of all the villains.

I love How it should have ended and agree with your reactions. Here is my how it should have been written points, using most of the movie framework but changing points that failed in my opinion 1. No dream stuff for Batman, (he is not physic) if anyone should have had dreams Lex, for somehow accidentally tapping into Darkseid. This could give the reason for his wanting Superman killed. Darkseid coming to destroy the last son of Kyrpton. By killing superman he eliminates the reason for invasion. So he feeds Batman info on Kyrptonite and helps spread fear of Superman. 2. Batman not killing people, He can be hardcore and brutal in his fights but not using guns, (ninja trained, he is not the Punisher). For those who are pro Batman killing, it should still be reserved for extreme cases against serious foes, not street thugs, it is hypocritical at best, for Batman to kill (the weak, compared to him), abuse of power is his beef with Superman. His fight with Superman can follow the Justice league Doom story + Dark Knight return elements. His fight is motivated by the fact that Superman could become evil, (instead of over reacting and assuming he needs to be killed, despite going around saving people) The fight would not be to kill superman but to prove to him that he can be killed and Batman can do it. To put a check and balance in place. (Batman strategy greater than Superman powers) 3. No Death of Superman / Doomsday story line. (yet) The other characters can be introduced by Batman going over his contingency plan for known Meta humans. Doomsday can be sent by Darkseid in JLA part 1. Superman weakened by fight with Batman, loses to Doomsday, Batman uses his knowledge to assemble the JLA to fight Doomsday, they have to overcome distrust of Batman, after Superman's death. Which will lead to Darkseid invasion in JLA part 2. And leave room for solo movies to further develop characters, inbetween JLA 1 and 2. (of course the return of Superman in #2) Doomsday not a creation of Zod +Luther Blood. 4. Batman and Superman Character development story showing the contrast between, eliminating dream sequences and focusing on why each one does what they do, and how the vision is similar protecting the weak, but methods and approach different. One comes from being the most powerful person on earth, the other from not having any power but rising to meet the challenge of fighting those with power be it a gun or heat vision. By doing this when the fight finally happens the viewers will care about the fight, and it will be more meaningful because it is not just to heroes fighting power vs power, it is their reason for being heroes at stake as well. Superman should have worked through his should I be a superhero, by the end of Man of Steel, he should have come into his own and understand his identity and role in the world. Just as Batman (doing for a long time) is clear with why and what he does. 5. This movie should have focused on Batman and Superman story, giving us reasons to like both heroes. The fight should have lead to an understanding of each other, and also given Superman and understanding that his powers alone do not give him the right to do anything, that having someone that can keep him in check is necessary. The other JLA members could have cameos through Batman's investigations on Met-humans. Lex is both a villain and a hero, as he is motivated to keep Darkseid and his legions from invading earth (that he wants for himself.Lex is not a pawn of Darkseid) This sets up JLA for Doomsday appreance/death of superman and everyone coming together to defeat both Doomsday in #1 and Darksied in #2.

By sacrificing himself Superman became a martyr and the whole world finally sees him as the hero he is. This was what SUperman's story was leading up to. This was his end and when he returns it will be a new beginning. Batman's story was just beginning here because this story was about his redemption. He realized that Alfred was right and he had become cruel so he changed his ways. He did not brand Lex and said that "men are still good"(referring to himself). He is no longer in that beautiful lie that he described at the beginning of the film. If he killed Doomsday, Batman's redemption would not be complete. He would not get to see the alien that he once thought was his enemy sacrifice everything for the people of this world. That act changed Batman's perspective on things and it will help him become even more redeemed after forming the Justice League which will be a symbol of Justice rather than vengeance(what Batman originally stood for).

This death would've had more impact if it was during or after Justice League. So, in the extended the cut, the reason Superman didn't know there was a bomb right next to him was because the chair was lined with lead meaning Superman couldn't see it. Okay, fair enough but uh...DIDN'T HE HEAR IT? In a JL cartoon he was able to identify 23 bombs just through his hearing alone! And don't say it's probably because he doesn't have it in this movie, because the movie definitely SHOWN he has that ability! He heard Lois trying to get out for chrissake!

Superman routinely blocks out sounds around him just to function. Otherwise he'd collapse from sheer sensory overload. Look what happened to Zod in MOS.

I loved Batman v Superman, I feel like people just can't accept the fact that the characters are different from what they're used to. The reason Batman was killing was because, he'd been doing the whole "no killing" thing for a while (remember he's been at it for 20 years) and after losing so many of his family and friends, he just gave up, just imprisoning villains didn't stop Robin from dying now did it? It didn't stop the Joker from crippling Barbara, so he just snapped and decided to kill any villain that can potentially harm people, this is apart of his arc, his redemption comes later. The whole Martha thing is more complex than just "their mothers have the same name" the more important word that Supes said was "save", at that moment not only did Superman show the humanity that Batman had lost, he also snapped batman out of it and gave him a chance to redeem himself. The nuking superman thing was also something that the government would do, to them both Supes and Doomsday are aliens that have caused and will cause a lot of death and damage (also Batman would've died if he tried stabbing Doomsday). Another complaint people had was Lex, I thought as a villain, he did more than most Marvel villains, even though he was humorous he never gave me that Marvel villain vibe (some of the mcu villains are good), he was actually seriously messed up and scary (also guess what, he actually didn't get killed by the heroes like in other movies...). The final complaints people had were that they didn't understand what was going on, they didn't feel connected to the characters and they didn't understand their motivations; all of that was told through visual story telling, if you didn't care to pay attention, then you would've missed it, this isn't a movie where you're spoonfed exposition and character archetypes, you actually have to fit the pieces together using your brain. Anyway, just wanted to get that off my chest, if you didn't like the movie that's fine but, I'm just saying that you shouldn't say it's a bad movie just cause you didn't like it. I didn't like Batman Begins but that doesn't mean it's a bad movie.

***** whats the point of this if Batman dies, Doomsday stabbed Superman, he would just stab Batman. ALso Batman would be vaporized by the enrgy waves, which was why he had to duck and dive and be in far away radiuses..either way you sliced it, one of them was going to get taken out...the cartoon alternative is pointless.. Also kryptonite weakens him but it doesn't completely take away his powers automatically, its a progressive degenerative effect, the longer he's exposed to it the weaker he gets. He FORCED(not jedi force) flew himself into stabbing Doomsday. Doomsday was close enough for him to charge forward. Thats like a vital gun shot victim having enough motor skills to power walk to the hospital if it was in close range.

There are the Elseworlds and that's how i felt after seeing BvS, an Elseworld (in this case the Snyderverse) so in the end; i.e. TDK trilogy was great but not a real Batman based movie, lack of the mythos ketp me from giving that trilogy a 9/10 (overall got a 8.8 from my perspective). And then this Batman, rage fueled and with zero detective skills. Well there's still the DC Animated Universe. As a sidenote: Not even in The Dark Knight Returns novel Batman kills.

Ok I'm tired of the whole "Martha" thing... let me explain.. This is DC movies, they have deeper concepts so I learn to look at this movie in deeper context and I ENJOYED it. He didn't stop because Superman's mother name is Martha. He stopped because the WHOLE movie Batmam couldn't find a reason to connect him to humanity, he even says "I'm going to show you what it's like to be a man" When he found out he had a mother on Earth, he finally found a connection not just to him, but to Humanity itself and finally realized Superman had a family on earth, he wasn't just an alien to him anymore, in Batmans mind him calling Martha's name and finding out who Martha was, other then connecting them 2, proved to Batman everything he needed to see. Seriously this movie is the cinematic equivalent of taking all your action figures and smashing them together. The characters outside of Batman (who was the one semi-decent figure in this garbage) were underdeveloped, felt like their story was told by people who only had done about 5 minutes of research into what makes these characters so lovable and iconic, the plot was hastily put together and full of ridiculous holes (Martha, seriously, MARTHA!!!), and they overall ruined what was arguably the greatest story line in Comics: the ideological clash between Batman and Superman. Don't even try to say this was anything other than a massive misleading cash grab on the level of Green Lantern and Batman and Robin

also that vision batman had i don't think it was a dream i think it was like a time boom that occurred while the flash time traveled and he was getting some sort of memories from a different time but not sure. SPECULATION FOR JL1 : At the end of JL1, Darkseid nukes the planet and his minions begin killing the Justice League one by one, finishing with Batman. As the explosion closes in on them, a dying Bruce Wayne says to The Flash "Run, Barry. Run" and the explosion consumes him. Flash then starts running at an incredible speed, the explosion right on his feet. He keeps running and running, screaming as he tries to goes faster. Then, as the other side of the blast appears in front of him, he begins running even faster, and just before he's crushed by both edges of the explosion, he enters the speedforce, and dissapears. Roll credits.

I feel EXACTLY the same way. Once you start removing what made the character special in the first place, It's no longer an accurate representation. If you make a Superman movie, but then you take away everything that made him special, then you no longer have a "Superman movie"; you have "A movie based on DC's Superman". There is a distinct difference there. I always felt Nolan's TDKT was "A trilogy based on DC's Batman" while Snyder's take (minus the killing and mowing people down) felt like a "Batman movie". I realize a lot of people liked Nolan's trilogy; I thought it was drastically overhyped overall. Superman, however, is obviously not the same character as Batman, nor is he supposed to be. Once you start painting both with the same brush, then you eventually lose one of the characters in the process and THAT is where Snyder went wrong (minus the poor writing of the script)

But in the movie, WW had that fight, she could've handled that fight herself and Superman didn't need to die like that.
