honestly, many people don’t realize that MiHoYo, despite everything, is still an indie company. granted they’re a huge indie company, but they haven’t been sold off or cannibalized by any corporations yet (in fact, they even refused to get absorbed into the fucking _Tencent monopoly,_ who _actually views them as a threat)._ the success of MiHoYo is insane and as someone who has been following them since the global launch of Honkai Impact, I really do wish them the best. edit: turns out (largely suspected because they face no pressure from shareholders as they are entirely independent), their workers in turn are also not as pressured and are not only paid almost double the salary of other Chinese game studios, but are treated INCREDIBLY. and if anyone knows anything about the game industry you’d know that it’s such an absolute hellscape to work in, like pretty much every single studio save some extremely small indies are just complete shitholes in terms of worker treatment, so to have miHoYo not only not mistreat their devs but actually treat them _really well_ (like they completely deserve) is just… holy cow. say what you want about them but I respect them madly for this. (and also a massive shame-on-you to other big studios like Blizzard or Riot or Rockstar because if this studio can pay their workers well and treat them even better, you should be able to too. no excuse smh)

Back when Honkai was released globally I was just in awe that such a big game exists on mobile. And it was like total of 6 GB. Back in that time I didn't believe a game above 2-3 GB can exist for a mobile. That's why it took my interest and started playing it. I didn't even watched that much anime back then except Naruto but I enjoyed it for a couple of months then quit cuz the story was not in English dub and made it harder for me to understand. Then I saw release news of Genshin which was from Mihoyo. Knowing that they had made such a good game like Honkai I had high hopes (which came true). And by this time I was almost well versed in the cultures of animes. I had watched like 100 series at that point starting in 2019. So now that i liked anime Genshin felt like a dream game. I'm happy to be playing it since release.

I downloaded it without seeing a single trailer and tought it would be something similar to Sakura Samsara/Schicksaw open world maps so it was absurdly better than what I tought of. Wish he touched more into honkai since it's like the first game that mihoyo stepped up with the plot, animation and everything else basically. To this date, HI3 still has the best CG cutscenes that took mihoyo years to achieve and it's believed to set grounds for a lot of genshin's fundamental world/character buildings, though both are different in many ways.

While Tears of Themis is from a very niche genre (otome/dating sims) its very popular in otome games community, hell i will say its on par with some of nintendo otoge titles. The story and characters are fleshed out soo well like i fawking ignore the romance when i first started it due to how much main story kept me engrossed in it lmao
