A simple review, tutorial of the Akaso EK7000 action camera, a nice GoPro alternative. I bought one and loved it so much, I bought a second one. I have a black one and a silver one. There are some cons to this camera, however, for the price, I believe they are definitely worth it. It does shoot video in 4k or 1080p as well as 12mp photos. Excellent video! I have one question that is never addressed... does it have zoom capability? I read one review where the person said it has 5 zoom settings, but nothing about it on KZbin reviews. Does it have those zoom settings?

The "spare back case" is actually not a spare water proof back! it is an option with vents so mic picks up better with case .. helps sound & keeps protection but is not 100% water proof due to sound vents either side .. may help you or others! check it out

Thanks for a really thorough review .. I plan on using mine on some mountain bike single track here in Montana. The cheaper version was my first priority as I won't cry as much when I flip my bike whilr in action and crush it .. which is what will eventually happen to it.

I have an iPhone pro 15 and downloaded the app to work with the EK7000 model.. it connects via WiFi but I don’t see images in my cell phone in order to take pics or videos of what I can see.. any suggestions or corrections for this or is it my phone is not totally compatible???

Question. Will this make everything seem far away and slow. I need a different camera. Because I got a dashcam but it makes it seem liks cars are miles away when they're almost hitting me. Great information Thank-you..while wearing on my head strap or chest strap I had to place camera in my waterproof housing,so no sound,I found away around this, I carefully drilled two holes in the waterproof casing which allows me to have prity good sound , I then purchased a second waterproof housing for unwater work costing me £10 ,hope this information helps you or some one else,I am very new to action camera world ..Gilbert

Nice review, but one of the ports is a micro USB port for both charging and USB connection and other one is a micro HDMI port for connecting to a Monitor or TV. Theyre not very common.

just bought this camera only MY version does not do wifi. i am guessing that it why it was 30 bucks cheaper. i do not need wifi capability, just wanted an alternative to my hero5black whose screen decided it would no longer work, though the camera does. lol. not very useful now, is it. thanks. hopefully i can get this working.

i stand corrected. once i read the owners manual online...wow, guess what? it DOES do wifi even though it does not say "wifi" on the outside of the camera. so far i am loving it. way more than my gopro. this does more what i want. just simple photos and videos. for my own personal use whilst travelling. thanks.

I heard what you said about WiFi but it's still not definitive on one point. Help? I had to return a camera because it's description was ambiguous and it required WiFi router and IP services to set up. I don't have any internet, no wifi, no router. I have a nice Android phone and that's all I'll ever have. No home internet expenses for me. Question is, will this camera get up and running just using my phone, the app store and the camera? Thank you. I'd like to buy it tomorrow if I can get an answer today that it'll work out. If not, anyone that can suggest a product that fits the bill would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks for watching. Yes, this camera will work fine with just camera, app, and phone. You will only need your phone and the app if you want to wirelessly connect the camera and your phone, not a must.

Thanks for the review. Have you tried it underwater at all? I'm going on vacation in November and was looking for some cheaper alternatives for a camera that works underwater. I don't really want to drop several hundred dollars on something that i'm not entirely sure i'll be using much beyond this trip. It doesnt have to be top quality and i dont need audio, just something that i can use to capture some cool fish when i go snorkeling. Would you still recommend this 3 years later or would you recommend something else now?

Thanks for watching. Yes, I would definitely still recommend this camera. It works great underwater. I still use it for that when we go on vacation. My kids love for me to video them and take pictures of them underwater. I would recommend purchasing the floating handle for it, in the event you drop it or it comes out your hand, it will just float.

There are microphones on both sides of the camera, three openings on the left side, and 9 openings on the right side. I've got an issue where the time lapse function doesn't work; does anyone else have firmware version KM20.0703V1STB and find that it works on theirs? If so, then I've probably got a defective camera that'll need to be returned. When trying to enter the configuration screen for the time lapse by pressing the shutter button, it does nothing. Also the Burst Photo configuration shows ON 3Photos, and can't be changed either. Trying to do a time lapse just freezes up the camera completely and requires a long press on the front button to restart the camera.

That sucks. But yes, this will be very suitable for that. It doesn’t come with many but there is an inexpensive kit you can get, I believe it’s linked in the description that has pretty much everything you would need.

Wife got me a slightly older version back when I started going my bus build; call it my go(kinda)Pro. haha Highly recommend for an inexpensive intro action camera. Still use mine a lot, though haven't done a YT vid in forever

It doesn’t come with any but you can use the WiFi and download the video or photo to you phone and use any editing software you want. Or you can take the micro sd card and use a computer.

I do still recommend. If you are using for snorkeling, you won't need the audio much which is good because it doesn't pick up well in the waterproof case. But camera is great!!
