How do I completely break my dogs off deer ?? When one hops up in front of em they will run it then I shock them then they hush and go back looking for a rabbit . Do I continue or is it another method ?

Donavan Worley this is the way to break them. I have a video on KZbin about breaking beagles. Also, I have a Training Beagles DVD in my website that gives you step by step guide on how I break my beagles. Once they are broke, they are a pleasure to hunt with.

Can scent hounds be trained to sniff out more than one species of game without confusion? Example deer season they track deer. Then after deer season they track rabbits?

Abdullah bin Bobby At-Taaeb yes! However, they will not be able to split up the seasons. They will run rabbit and deer whenever they smell it no matter the season.

Seeing how they work together and to stay on the right trial, if they lose it can they pick it back up, pretty much don't let they rabbit get away

The last duel champion beagle was AMAWALK LINK. He was born around 1940. His prodigy became known as Gay bred when crossed to Grays Linesman.

The Dog that stayes in lead, they look for who barking and who's not .. the first dog that jumps is just an all around judgment.

Getting Down Hounds Kennels they look for a lot of different things. Basically, they are looking for the dog that progress forward with little breakdowns and that stays close to each place that the rabbit track is. There is a lot more to it, but this may help explain it a little.

T. Benson I wanna thank jou for showing me the way ,watching your dogs showed me that beagles got wat it takes to do the job .. I get put down by guys that run walkers with deer because of their speed but it's not about that it's the nose and staying on task during the hunt. Judge picked him up.. It's a flaw in the rules. The judge gets to remove or ( pick up ) any dog thats running. This is supposed to be for faulty hounds that cause breakdowns. But its used for many other reasons. Sometimes they pick a hound up just because they don't like the owner. Like i said, it's a flaw. The judges should just give plus and munis points and not pick anyone's dog up. They drove a long ways and paid money to enter. This is why alot of guys quit the game. Too much politics.
