Basically "Unity of all ethnics in the Kingdom of Laos" and it's one of the old classical Lao songs. I'm not sure when this song was written. But I believe it was written in the 1930s, when Lan Xang (kingdom of all Tais) was under French and it was renamed "Laos, or Lao" after the language of all Tais speak. This song was written to help with Laos new national identity.

Lao people call themselves "Tai" for centuries. In 1700s, Siam was aggressively & systematically conquering Lana (one of the largest Tais) and Lan Xang ( Kingdom of all Tais). In 1930s, part of Lan Xang was under French, and it was renamed "Lao or Laos" after the language of the Tais speak. This song was written to help with Laos new national identity, and basically, the theme is "Unity of all ethnics in the Kingdom of Laos". Because by the 1900s, Tais=Laos were outnumbered Siamese; Siamese is one of the Khmer's ethnics; and for Siam political stability, in 1939, Siam changed to "Thailand"; and Tais=Laos continue to worship Siamese king until today. The Tais people language is "Lao"; and Siam language is combined mainly "Khmer+Hindi+Lao". Tais=Laos is no longer have king of their own.

Lan xang means million elephants, you need to mention it if you’re gonna take a stance like this. You yourself are erasing and rewriting history too when you portray it incorrectly. 😅

Thanks for the reply. As we Lao understood "million elephants" as a symbolic number of people in Lan Xang during that era. I can say the same with Lanna " million rice patties or fields", and I would look at it as symbolic of its wealth. Lan Xang was very populated, not like today's Laos; King Samsantai "three hundred thousand tais", he was named after the size of Lan Xang's army. In 1700s, Lanna was no longer a part of Lan Xang, and Lan Xang fractured into 3 states. That's why Siam had opportunities to conquer these regions and Siam's population increased exponentially during this era, and Siam was able to fight off Burma's attacks. We're living in the 21st century now. I have been living in the USA since December 1979. I'm assuming you live abroad as well right? My DNA may be Lao but my way of thinking & culturally an American.

Thai ancestors are Khom, not Khmer. The language used is Khom. Khmers are workers who serve the Khom, Aaccording to the KA 64 stone inscription evidence.

Again, my educated guess is Khom, Siam, Lavo, and Khmer are the same people who share language, lineage, and culture as we all know today's Cambodia. King of Cambodia calls himself Khmer and he isn't a worker. Khmer's empire was the epitome of southeast Asia civilization. In fact, Laos' written language is derived from Khmer's writing about 7 or 8 hundred years ago. The 1st King of Lan Xang, or Tai Lao was son-in-law of Khmer's King. We all can easily find about our ancestors or lineage, the modern technology is available us to find out, if you're Thai, Lao, Khmer, Chinese, etc. or combinations of various ethnics.
