We all witnessed the recent furore over the publication of a book called Soro Soke, which was authored by a non-Nigerian researcher. Many were furious and believed that the ENDSARS struggle had been exploited in a way that undermined those who were involved in the struggle. Who decides who gets to tell African stories? How do non-Africans navigate this dilemma in their writing? Who are the outsiders? Can outsiders become insiders? What needs to be done to ensure that more African stories get out into the world? We try to answer these questions and more.
