So nice to hear from another homeschool mom some of the difficulties. Because we choose to homeschool, it feels like we're not allowed to complain or talk about the hard stuff. It is SO HARD sometimes!

I like that you brought this realistic perspective. I found that my kids are rarely sick compared to when they were in public school. I find the biggest difficulty is making an effort to get “adult” time especially as a single mom.

I live in a very cluttered townhouse. It was the best thing I ever did homeschooling my son. Even when he was in school.. he didn't have a good time making friends because of his ADHD. I go to work in the evenings. My husband comes home.. all good. In the spring we are going on a 14 day trip out West. I'm so excited about that! Mt. Rushmore, Arkansas, Moab, Grand Canyon.. and everything along the way! Life if for LEARNING! We decided today go to bed earlier.. get up around 8am.. he wants to be done by 12 noon or so. We are good to go! I did NOT "love" everything about the school culture. Yes, the reading was fun. Yes the halloween was good. But each had limitations. I have a "weird" kid. I embrace his weirdness. He never liked taking the bus or school. He tells me all the time that he LOVES homeschooling! We started ACE Education this year. It's going well. About immunity.. I work at Costco. Think about this: 500 people every 30 minutes. I"M exposed to a LOT.. I take that home. DONE.I got NO PROBLEM explaining just WHY I'm homeschooling. HSLDA is SOOO important to join!

This was good info. I’m a mom of 5 and I enjoy JadyA KZbin’s page but her children are exceptionally obedient & im always curious about how to take time to individually tutor, like how do the other kids stay occupied? But iPad education! Cool. Ur schedule is a bit more realistic for my life.

I definitely use educational stuff on the iPad! I keep finding more and more programs that are high-quality. It’s not like when I first started teaching and there were only a few websites that were only moderately educational.

Thanks Akeeba for keeping it real. Appreciate your offer for a free trial for the coding app. Home schooling has been extremely isolating for us. My daughter's on the spectrum and it's been tough trying to protect her from covid. I definitely need to consider exploring options of interacting with other home schooling families in my area. - I'm completely worn out too. I'll try incorporating her school schedule for mornings only. Blessings to you and your famly. P. S. excited for Aleena and Joe's new baby. Love y'all - from Michigan!

Yes, Definitely try mornings only. It might give you more time in the afternoon to go meet up with other families. And there are people who are really Covid conscious, but I know it’s definitely a hard balance.

We ALL appreciate your wisdom, your tips. You've touched some things that I wouldn't have thought of- like the sickness thing. Defending my homeschool walk especially now that I have a high schooler.......(sigh), it's rough out there but I know God has called me to this so therefore I move forward. I no longer entertain comments or the folks that believe it's ok to skip me and question my kids directly. My kids now know how to answer adults politely.😉

Great the video, thanks. I don't miss the sickness of daycare/school days; constantly hustling sick babies and not being sure the outcome, running out of sick days etc. No thanks, it's unsustainable and a wierd way to build immunity. On one of those rounds, my daughter got pneumonia, it was terrible and scary......now we don't have those weekly and biweekly sickness anymore. Our family is trying to be more healthy and eat more real foods so that our gut health is strong enough to withstand illness. Healthier ppl have stronger immunity, being sick all the time would be a wierd sign of a strong immune system....

I loved homeschooling my Daughter we had a great Connection and I was Able to solidify our religious beliefs where it could not be done in a public school system and even in some private schools; in other words we had a ball..😊 Sometimes you have to come and meet your kids at their level and make it fun not; I’m the teacher you are the student; you listen to what I say and I can’t learn anything from you; even the smallest soul is wise🦉... she graduated this year in June from high school..👁

I’ll ad one. If you only have 1 child under the age or 4 it’s super super boring 😐. They do a lot of independent work and not much to do with them tell their ready. Your going to want to go back to work or have another child. If you go back to work which I did you might suffer and the child might regress in learning. I suffered and my daughter regressed and I had to help her relearn how to count past 20. She almost forgot her colors and many other things. I was super sleepy after work. Note I am pregnant and I stopped working months ago. Happily my toddler is turning 4 and she’s showing me she’s ready to do some learning.

Home schooling children are much better in my eyes. I live in ontario canada and my sister lives in Colorado USA. And she home schooled her 3 children after she saw what things the school board was about to teach her children. Then she started to do research at home school. She joins all sorts of groups on FB and other platforms. And she chose a christian base curriculum for her children. And do you believe that my nieces and nephew were more advanced in what they learn at home compared to the school board curriculum and pace. Now my nephew is all finished He graduates from this 12 grade and was able to go to prom and all that. He chose not to go to college but he wants to learn a trade and use the trade to make his life more accomplished than many of us That want to go to college and university and still can't find the job that you are looking for, so we have to take any job until we catch the job we need in our life. My 2 nieces are still home schooling and when i tell you that they are about 3 to 5 grades ahead of normal school children. Within their curriculum they do bible class/study. They do the subjects that they need for their grade but they whip through those like 1 2 3 and done. They start home school by praying and doing devotions every day. Then they start home schooling every morning at 8:30am to 12:30pm mon to fri. My sister even plans field trips for them depending on the subject they are doing. Sometimes they go on trips for science, other trips when they are doing health. They also go to the musuems, the zoos, horse back riding etc. My sister's oldest daughter's education abilities are in college. She sometimes tells my sister that she's bored. So my sister will let her start the next chapter and my youngest nieces will speed up what she's on so they both can be on the same pace. And my younger niece is younger than her sister so she doesn't want to be left behind with her sister. My younger niece should be in grade 5 going into grade 6 and the other one is grade 9 going to 10. But with home schooling her curriculum is doing grade 5 and 9 teaching but my nieces are 3 grades ahead with all they know and what they can do. It's amazing what home schooling can do for your children. I am a RECE i teach kindergartens and if i had the opportunity to home school my children here in canada i would and i would teach them the Christian curriculum, so in every grade they are doing a religion class and project. And every morning we would have been doing devotion and singing and worship before class starts. Because USA and Canada forget that those countries are base under a christian head and all the public schools use to be able to say the lord prayer before the national Anthems and they allowed themselves to be blind sided by other nationalities coming from different countries and making demands to bring these countries like their country. As i see it, it's like this. These countries didn't send calling you to live here, so if you so choose here or the USA to live and make it your home. You also need to come and respect their country for what it is and what religion base it is, don't come and demand that prayers out of the schools be taken out because it offends you because it's not your religion and you don't want to hear about the lord Jesus Christ. And use the racist card in the country to change it into what you want. And now some of the religions are asking every place to have a room for them to be able to pray. I am christian and the bible says to pray anywhere. We don't go around asking for private rooms to pray. No other cultures should be choosing canada and the USA as their home and want it to change to suit you. If you move here and don't like the rules then politely move back to where you're from. Because whenever someone moves to another country they should respect it for what it is and if you don't like it then clearly move back to where you are from. Because when others go and visit any country we all have to respect their country for what it is, we don't go making demands, oh we need a church to go too etc. We respect it. So why can't it be the same with others when they choose to live? And also making demands to have the head of the countries to change what holidays that have been celebration for thousands of years and want them to include your holidays on the calendar etc and don't want us to say merry christmas because you don't celebrate christmas. If you don't celebrate it just don't we don't walk around pushing it in their faces. And when it's their holidays they want it to be acknowledged as if it's part of Canada culture. No it's not part of the culture. You are free to celebrate your holidays and your can with your family and friends at your homes. Don't demand and put pressures on countries to celebrate it and it's not another culture. When they don't respect the land of the country and for what it is, but want us to respect and celebrate with them. They don't want to hear merry Christmas, they want it changed to happy holidays. Hello it's not happy holiday, it is merry Christmas and it's final. I don't say happy holidays i still and will forever say merry Christmas. I respect this country and the land it is built on, i didn't come here to change it to my country where i am from. It is called respecting wherever you go. If you like home so much then move back nobody didn't send and call you. And now because of all those demands everything have changed and gone down hill. That is why many parents are doing home school with their children. I am praying that one day that i would be able to home school my children and respect this country they land of the native Indians. I love and respect this country and the people this land belongs to. I wish for changes and the next leader of this country can open up their eyes and reverse everything to How god intended it to be. And put prayers back in all the schools. The only schools that still have the lord prayer in the morning are Catholic schools. And i respect them for that. Standing on solid ground. Every child needs to hear about the lord in schools, not only in church.

@@exoticbeautybrina2156 Dear Brina... What if you are American, non immigrant, and choose to follow the religion that originates in a different country? Moving to the country where that religion is the majority may not be a feasible option, nor should it be expected or required of the majority religion. Are you suggesting they should be kicked out? Is there no empathy or compassion for the one who is possibly outnumbered in their faith? These are children we are talking about here. Do they not deserve to go to school confident they can fulfill their God given duties, especially if they are not welcome to perform their prayers as they understand God requires of them? In order that they can feel comfortable that the majority will not judge them and laugh at them, or force them to assimilate to the current cultural and religious norms and sayings (ie "Merry Xmas)? That would be forcing a lie to comfort the majority. As opposed to the majority respecting or at least not peer pressuring the "odd one out" ... because there is already strength in the majority's numbers. What happened to the golden rule of treating others as you want to be treated? Respecting the differences in other faiths as you would like your faith to be respected? If a private room is requested to pray because it could be a distraction to the others who don't understand that form of prayer, or who represent the differing majority religion, it's possible that it could lead to bullying because of those differences... what's the harm in allowing a different, safe place to pray for a child? Indigenous ppl and their religions and spirituality covered the whole of north and south America, and due to colonization and genocide, their beliefs/culture etc have been overridden and basically forgotten in the name of "the Lord Jesus". They were here first. They should have right to see their religious representation respected in these schools before anyone else. Even Africans are struggling to remember and hold onto their original spirituality, whether they are right or wrong about God - that's not the point, because when they were given a Bible and taught to close their eyes and bow their head and pray to Jesus, their eyes were opened to a gun pointed at them and death if they chose to keep their original beliefs. That may be why a lot of ones with African derived ethnicity(DNA/however you wanna correctly politically describe those whose ancestry stems from that continent) in north America are currently Christian. Their ancestors had no choice over the centuries of it being forced on them. That goes for a majority of the globes' inhabitants who find their original belief system lost and denigrated, demonized and rejected (ie - crusaders, Spanish inquisition, missionaries 'gone wild' preaching on the "heathens" etc) if only the ancestors could see what has become of their progeny generations later... They would cringe, cry, and wail for their lost souls... I hope empathy and mutual respect of others - be them foreign, domestic, indigenous, ancestral, or converts to something other than Christianity - is bestowed upon you sooner than later. The good book says not to point out the splinter in another's eye, when there is a rafter in your own... And to close this, it has also been said... "Who the cap fit, let them wear it."

Children grow up. Children grow up and move out and move on with their lives. Any time. Any time, a parent spends with their child, their children should be seen with that constantly running in their mind and their heart. Time. Goes so quickly, so fast and kids once young become older.
