A public school education is a one-size-fits-all education. I went to public school back in the 1960's. However, I only got as far as fourth grade. I had emotional problems and the classes were too large. After fourth grade, I was sent to special education school. The classes were much smaller and the teachers give you individualized attention. I gradually calmed myself down and I had more respect for the teachers. She's definitely right about having freedom. Schools have very strict attendance policies that have to be enforced. If her kids were ever out sick, or for any other reason, she would have to notify the school by a certain time of the morning and let them know that her kids aren't coming in that day. If they're out sick, they have to bring in a doctor's note. Some schools asks that doctors' appointments be made after school instead of during school hours. Some doctors have office hours on evenings and on Saturdays; and some don't. As far as taking a vacation during the school year goes, many schools don't allow this. They consider it an unexcused absence. Each state has compulsory school attendance laws that have to be enforced. Violating those laws range from receiving a call or a letter from the school to having a truant officer at your door, going to court, and end up going to jail. Parents have the right to educate their kids as they see fit. If they're going to homeschool them, they should find out what their state's homeschooling laws are and the school district's homeschooling policies as well.

I have just started homeschooling my kindergartener. I think most people who start homeschooling will agree there's always that voice in the back of your mind telling you. You can't do this you cannot do this you cannot do this especially I was thinking that cuz this is my only child and I went to public school from kindergarten to 12th grade. So I just really had to reach out to a lot of homeschooling parents that I knew from my church and that I just knew through different programs my husband and I are going to start looking to join a homeschooling group so he can make friends good friends that we approve of because public school has become complete and utter trash and I only graduated in 2005 and my husband graduated in 2001.

I know that feeling well! That’s def very common, especially when starting out. Finding a community of homeschooler is very helpful to have that support! There are great online communities as well if you’re not able to find something in person, but most towns have different groups available. This video might be helpful for some other ideas! 5 BIGGEST MISTAKES New Homeschoolers Make (and what to do instead) kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3KadmyEbJiJeac

Maman Simplifiée I’ve always been obsessed with maps! This map is a National Geographic world map that I mounted and painted the African sunrise scene over, and then I added markers for places we’ve been. ☺️
