He was clearly driving too fast for road conditions and had to slam on brakes to keep from running over other people that were driving like they had some sense
@jeffsullivan310113 күн бұрын
@@douglasmorrison9098 He didn't put on his brakes until AFTER he lost it, watch again. Probably what happened was he felt the truck start to slide when he let off the fuel peddle to slow down the weight of the trailer started to push him into a jackknife then he panicked and hit the brakes. You are right tho, nobody should have been driving on that crap at all and everyone was running to fast for conditions. You have to really fight the urge to stay off the brakes and ride it out till it's too late to do anything about it. Once you get about 10 or 15 degrees out of line with the trailer you're done, 32 years of experience here driving trucks.He had 3 truck stops right behind him and that's where he should have been.

Sometimes trucks can't find any were to park at when this weather is bad so sometimes they get happy when a truck jackknifes the interstate and now they can sit on the interstate and finally sleep until the wrecker comes.

If that driver didn't have a medical emergency, then this was on purpose. There was no call to jam the brakes and leave them on like that. He was all alone and just taking the foot off the gas would have slowed him down long before any contact the vehicles ahead etc.

He was already losing control if you look closely hints why the breaks were applied. The issue is that most people don't know what to do in this situation. So it definitely was not on purpose

@NatoWarPigs13 күн бұрын
@@JeanHenley4222 to do that he must apply just the trailer brakes ( we have a handle that can do that ) and at the same time hit the fuel pedal to help straighten out .... its al most impossible to do on ice though , dry ground no problem . he was going to fast for the road conditions . thats a pull over kinda night !
