Sadly agree! South Asians (especially up north), have very poor English, even though they may possess a degree, they fail to articulate themselves to a wider audience. It maybe due to them spending a lot of time with other minority groups, who speak English as an additional language and speaking more of their mother tongue at home and amongst their peers. The South Asians who wish to get into politics, media, higher positions, need to either carry out work experience in a different city with a lower percentage of ethnic groups, or attend speaking classes and get coaching. This gentleman’s a solicitor but I wouldn’t have guessed it, without being told. There are certain occupations, where you need to have a good grasp of the English language or any native language, of the country you wish to move up that career ladder. InShaAllah this brother takes on this positive criticism and improves on himself. If he wishes to take on a position as a city Mayor, he definitely needs to improve his language skills.
