To fully understand the songs on this album, it’s important to remember that Lady Gaga was aiming to connect directly with her fans, especially those in the LGBTQIA+ community. Bad Kids is a song that embraces the idea that it’s okay to be seen as a freak or a rebellious teenager in a world that often views diversity as an act of defiance. It’s her way of saying you shouldn’t be ashamed of your rebellious spirit or your refusal to conform to society’s expectations of what a "good kid" should be. Also, keep in mind that the song was released in 2010, and the internet was a very different place back then.

She really positioned herself as a "mother monster" during this era. The first time I heard this song in 2018 at 15 it made me feel protected, because even though I was seen as a "bad kid", I still was good to her ♡

Gaga wrote and recorded the Born This Way album on the road while touring her The Fame Monster album. She had a second bus follow the tour bus which had a makeshift recording studio in it. She wrote this song after receiving hundreds of fan letters from kids (not actual kids, like teens, early 20's young people) who would all tell her that they felt so worthless, they'll never amount to anything because they've just been labelled a 'bad kid' even though they were really trying hard, who had totally given up on themselves. That's why she says "don't be insecure, if your heart is pure you're still good to me, if you're a 'bad kid' baby". So it's kinda a song to give hope to the kids who feel like society has given up on them, rather than encouraging people to be bad

Also, it’s nice to note that this song was born from not just Gaga’s experiences but also from the fans. These are common themes present in the fan mails sent to her during the BTW album cycle. Thats why it feels like a random mix of experiences.

A lot of the songs on this album have purposefully juvenile lyrics, she’s singing from the perspective of her fans, which at the time were mostly teens.

I mean, it is never the child's fault fow how a relationship pans out. Sometimes the child might internalise blame onto themselves, hell, sometimes even a parent might blame the child but if you're out here blaming a child when 2 adults were present, then maybe the fault lay with your own immaturity
