(In the anime, I did read the manga) Gaara was not insane after the chunin exams, because of Naruto, he learned to be nice to others. He pretty much got better and later in the anime, he became a sensei to Matsuri. And you can really tell, that over time he improved. ^^ Note:Matsuri is also in the manga, well a ninja who looks like her is in the Shippuden manga.When gaara wakes up again, theres a girl that says: Gaara is cool and mysterious or something like that. Akira is 1 of my fav actor
