Akitas are very careful in apartments and don't want to knock anything over. I have a Japanese Akita myself who is exactly like that. They move similarly to cats.

Akita don’t like slippery floors. They cause hip and joint degenerative disease. Setting an Akita up to jump on a slippery surface is cruel and dangerous
