Shigure waited for too long to be with her so he did what he had to do which is basically manipulating everything, he had them wrapped around his fingers so they could finally break the curse. He knew that Tohru might be the key to their poignant history. Anyways, I love how faithful he is to Akito and how his love never varies so it's not really a rocket science to see how he had been longing for her acknowledge and of course touch, he really love her.

I notice a lot of Shigurephobia going around in the comments so Im here to clear something regarding this character that ppl misunderstood : 1) He is not a pedo (according to Fruba Wiki theres a 6 year gap between him and Akito; hence there are both kids growing up together) 2) The pervy jokes he makes are to provoke ppl's reactions (yuki,kyo) and he never acts on them. 3) Ppl who accuse him of being abusive or grooming Akito clearly forgets that Akito is the one in control of their relationship. Even at Akito young age, any word from her will send pain to him as he in binded by the curse. He can never betrays her, can never hurt her because she is his God. And her being the family head means that they are maids and attendants who look out for her. 4) Akito may see Shigure as a father figure at first but its been proven that she does have romantic feelings for him (Kureno confirms this, Rin said that Shigure is Akito's favourite, Akito demands his attention more than others) and Akito laments about him when she went to find Shigure after the curse broke, that 'he is selfish and cruel, he acts indifferent and childish', the complete opposite of her father. She had express her desire for him the first time she saw him. 5) Shigure's posessiveness is stemmed from the curse. Once the curse is lifted, he is reverted back to being calmer and secure. 6) Shigure let Akito choose the life that she wants (she wants to remain as the family head, he wants her to leave the Sohma but he still respect her wishes). 7) At the final ep, Shigure is happy that Akito is friend with Tohru (a posessive person will never do this) and even encourage her to go to see Tohru off (again he wants her to interact more with ppl). He even respect her wishes to not go and tease for wanting Tohru to herself.

This my second ship next to Kyo x Tohru ofcourse. I mean, just imagine watching your gf being more clingy to your equally hot goodlooking cousins rather than you esp Kureno. He can't do anything about it. Imagine his agony how mad and frustrated he was. I think in all of the zodiacs it's Shigure who wanted to break the curse the most as fast as he could so that he can finally have Akito to himself alone. That's why he kept stirring things up. He want something to happen, something that can possibly break the curse.

@@wiseone4751 No I get why you feel that, I just don't agree at all. Shigure really only cares about himself, and in his own words, will stop at nothing to get what he wants. In regards to Akito, I'm glad you said it's not "just lust" indicating there's some lust which is creepy considering his feelings started when she was 9. I'm actually glad that Kureno stuck close to her after his curse broke or Shigure may have succeeded in sexually grooming her. As for his feelings, him sleeping with Akito's mom out of spite was all it took to convince me those feeling weren't love but possessiveness. The only time he ever felt "regret" is where he wonders if he had fallen for Tohru might things be better but I felt that was more on whether he would be happier rather than a better person. This is also a bit creepy considering Tohru is 17 and he's 26 but it's a huge improvement from 9 👍 Honestly, the only ones I felt actually loved and wanted better for Akito were Kureno and Momiji even though they didn't want to be with her. They also didn't go about it in the smartest way and may have reinforced her bad habits but I felt like their intentions for her were genuine. In any case, I do get why people want to believe in Shigure and I'm not trying to change anyone's mind ... just offering a different perspective with some justification

@@dillychan 😭 Shigure is a pervert, he loves to play around, he's all over the place, he likes to mess up things but I always think that he's only like this cause he can't be with the one he truly love. He's desperate, helpless and frustrated of that fact. He can't be with Akito, he can't blame anyone for it, he can't be angry with Kureno, and he's not capable of hating on Akito either. He tries not to show it but he's just dead for Akito. I know what you mean too Shigure is not a good guy, he's a kid actually. He's that guy who won't stop messing around unless he got a hold on what he wants and in Shigure's case that's Akito. I believe it tho, that Shigure's love for Akito is genuine. I agree too that it was a good thing Kureno stayed beside Akito, somehow young Akito was shielded by Shigure's overpowering love lol... in the end they got married everything was worth it all the pain they both have, I'm satisfied with that. Some people see them getting married strange or weird, but for me it was good that they ended up together. I was like rooting for this ship. The tension between them is just too much for me to handle, and I think I couldn't take it if they didn't end up together. So I'm so happy that they were together in the end.

I felt Akito's development was learning to overcome her conditioning that the zodiac connection was everything and she couldn't live without it. She began to redeem herself which was great but I think being without any Sohma would have been a perfect end to her arc. She could remain friends with Tohru and the others but starting a relationship with Shigure was such a step backwards in my opinion. Maybe if Shigure had some positive development but that didn't happen. I am aware that he is confirmed to be childish and a pervert (with pedophilic tendencies) but instead of playing it as a joke, the story should have him actually work on that. By the end, he says he can compromise by not pursuing her but immediately adds on the condition of her never coming near him? It makes me think he hasn't learned a thing >.< Anyway, I can't see Shigure's feelings for Akito as genuine love as his wording focuses on possessing and controlling her rather than making her happy or better. I mean he bluntly tells her he will never ever let go of or share what is his which makes her literally jump away from him (yiiiiiikes).

I think what I love about their relationship is that even after all the crap/cruelty Akito pulled, heck- even DURING her reign of terror, Shigure still loved her whole heartedly. Not that I’m anywhere near as bad as her, it gives me hope that someone can genuinely love me too if someone can love a deeply troubled person as her.

In Defense of shigure: (Spoilers) This is just a thought but I think a lot of people don’t like shigure and think he‘s the reason why akito turned out how she is. But I don’t think he’s the main reason but rather the mom and altogether the curse that binds everyone involved. Of course shigure is not a saint and has flaws like possessiveness. What he did with his mother surely did not help with her mental health but remember the issue her mom has. She is scared of akito as a woman and that she will steal every man around her. (That’s also why she had her dress like a man) So maybe it was shigures twisted way of trying to keep the mom away from akito. If he had refused her and gone to akito the mom definitely would have done something to her. He also tells Akito that he is very possessive and won’t let go of her which seems kind of weird but akito also has abandonment issues. That’s why she also sleeps with Kureno and doesn’t want anybody to know of his broken spell. Again it’s his twisted way of saying don’t worry I won’t leave you or abandon you. „I will always be there for you“ And I also believe that he plays a major role in breaking the spell. If he hadn’t suggested letting tohru stay at his house she maybe would have never known of the curse. Also it is briefly mentioned in the second season that shigure had searched a lot of documents for ways of breaking the spell so he really wanted to free not only himself but rather akito that binds her to the soma family and also the role of „god“ and to always be in the center. I believe that the author wanted to write a story where everyone has their flaws and is bound to a „curse“, but at the end everyone is freed and finds happiness. So I want people to like shigure and akito too because in this story everyone needed the help of someone and it’s about finding happiness. Thank u for reading this long text╰(*´︶`*)╯♡

Shigure is such a creepy villain when you think about it. He actually makes me feel a bit bad for Akito... SPOILERS BELOW: He began sexually grooming Akito since she was 9 (he was 16 then) and when things didn't go as planned (glad that Kureno stuck so close to her or he might have succeeded) he banged her mom (and lifelong abuser) which traumatised the poor kid... I ain't excusing her warped personality but it is quite a lot to go through. I do wonder, just how was he comforting her back then to make her lose it, and if he hadn't, might she have not tortured Yuki? and also not have taken out all her grief on the rest of the family... I dunno? What I really don't get is how Hatori could remain his friend as he didn't give a shit what happened to anyone as long as he could get Akito and punish Kureno :< By the end, at-least Akito begins to redeem herself by apologising and making an effort to change things and make amends for the damage she's done. Whereas Shigure just ends up getting what he wants and so he doesn't need to manipulate or endanger others anymore... god, he's so creepy. Great villain!!!
