Akkadian TAXES in the Book of Ezra - Aramaic Bible Study Ezra

We find Akkadian taxation terms the Aramaic portions of the book of Ezra.
The books of Ezra and Daniel contain portions written in a Mesopotamian dialect of Aramaic that is commonly referred to as "Biblical Aramaic." As this dialect emerges from Mesopotamian administration, it is fitting that a number of administrative terms from Akkadian entered into the Aramaic as it was used by Assyrian, Babylonian and finally Persian administrators of the Fertile Crescent and beyond.

I got my doctorate in Syriac at the Catholic University of America. I took all the Aramaic courses (Targumic, Biblical and Dead Sea Scrolls). Akkadian was offered, but it took two years to develop real proficiency and I had too many other courses to make it feasible to for Akkadian into the mix. Thank you for your helpful videos on this Eastern Semitic language!

Rewatching this during the day, not half-asleep, I found the topic strangely familiar. Since October I've been involved in a project building a database of sources on 'imperially coerced migrations in the ANE'. We enter the Akkadian terms, _inter alia_ , in our excels on every source collated, and oh boy have I made many an entry with these terms... ( We're giving a poster presentation on the project at RAI69 in Helsinki this summer. We're hoping to have Ver. 1.0 up and running by then, but we'll have to see... )

@@axelmegaton5115 what do you mean bro? your explanation so confusing, i ask about words of Akkadian that contain in AlQuran, not history of Quran. and i dont find Qraja in akkadian dictionary too, and Oral Torah is Torah Sebbealpe, its so different with Torah Sebbiktav, and Quran not written in Babylonia bro 🤣🤣🤣🤣

There is somethings that has been bothering me for a while. How do you know the exact meaning of the Akkadian words, some of these words don’t even seem Semitic at all and cannot be compared with Aramaic, ge’ez or Arabic. And even if there was a Semitic cognate the meanings always seemed to have changed. Also how do you know how it’s pronounced? A lot of the sounds are omitted because of the limitations of cuneiform. This language have really interested me. 😅

This is an interesting question for sure! Deciphering cuneiform and Akkadian must've been a journey of its own.
