Loved this review, I also felt the shoulder difference. I bought a Fecker Alice as my entry point to mechanical keyboards and if you're here because you're wondering if the ergonomic split style makes a difference, when my husband compared my Alice style to his brand new standard layout he was stunned by how much more comfortable it is, and immediately bought his own. Alice/Arisu is so easy to use, and at ~$130-$250 (if you buy your own switches and keycaps), that's so much less than the cost of PT for repetitive stress injury.

Damn, the updated version of the Alice Plus offers so much for what it's worth, I got the proto version and it's nowhere near that many haha. Love the different angle to the alice plus Turbo! Like you, I still struggled with the Y and G Key being on the right as I type weird as well. I still haven't got used to it months after (but that's likely due to the other boards I use haha) Love the vid bro!

Thanks for this video! It's really helpful to hear your experience in the long term after switching from a standard layout. I agree that it's a little odd they named it Alice -- but the semantics in general are silly to me given split ergonomic keyboards have existed for decades before the Alice. Clearly, Akko is going for the marketing value -- capturing the Google searches for Alice keyboards.

Alice and Arisu is the same thing. Arisu is Alice in Japanese. The reason it’s Arisu is because Japanese don’t really have the L sound (remember in Lost in Translation the scene where Bill Murray with an Escort in his room and she keep saying “Lip my stocking”. When she meant Rip them, the Japanese mix the L and R sounds, and ce becomes Su because they don’t pronounce ce, or words ends with S, they always go Su. The character in the Netflix show call Alice in Borderlands, the main character’s name in the show is call Arisu. But the show isn’t call Arisu in Borderlands, because Alice = Arisu. So Arisu isn’t Alice board with Arrow Keys, Arisu is just Alice, but pronounce in Japanese. Hope that helps.
@Aldarris2 жыл бұрын
The creator named it that way to differentiate the two so yes, arisu is alice with arrows. Imagine if you wanted a 65% but they still called it 60%.
@jammies7012 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure @aldarris is right, but regardless, I think it makes sense to just call it Alice/arisu like you said and to differentiate by size (e.g. Alice 60, Alice 80, etc.). Seems really weird to have a different name for the same layout but because it has… arrow keys? Plus differentiating the Alice/arisu also makes it so any keyboard with the same layout but that has a function row/nav cluster/XT macros has no name, so it’s pretty silly
@RaymondwLin2 жыл бұрын
@@jammies701 what would a Japanese person in Japan ask for then when they are buying one of these?
@jammies7012 жыл бұрын
@@RaymondwLin not sure what your point is here in replying to me... assuming the creator's intent, they would say alice if they want the 60 and arisu if they want the 65... and assuming they only speak japanese they would prob pronounce it arisu either way, but it's 2022 and pretty reasonable to expect ppl from a developed country to learn some sounds outside of their language. i don't speak swedish but i can still pronounce an å don't know why you're questioning me, i'm the one saying your way makes more sense
@jermainer27812 жыл бұрын
@@Aldarris lol imagine thinking a TKL isn't a 88/87/80. Imagine a 60 actually being a 61... It's the same. Some arrow keys didn't do much to the layout anymore than those TKL versions mentioned. Someone made a stab at pointing out a difference to be different not that it made a difference to the layout. Let me attach a numpad to my TKL... It's a full board now! No, it's a TKL with a numpad added 😂 semantics 😂

my question is, where you do get the extra "B" keycap?
@vectivuz18582 жыл бұрын
If you buy the prebuilt it is already included. If you buy barebones you have to look for a keycap set that supports the alice layout.

@@vectivuz1858or buy a full set. Get the number 3 on numpad keys, and it's good. It's the same height of any B key. The main problem is the 2 spaces. Those are kind of rare if not an alreadt alice set keycaps

Mix of abs and pbt. So while it won't shine for a while it will eventually develop shine. If you have oily fingers or use the board with dirty hands, it will shine quicker.

I have a similar board, the Keychron Q8, and I don't find it to be much different for gaming. YMMV based on your button mapping, though. If you need to press buttons that are on the right half, it's going to be kind of annoying. If you frequently need the function keys, it's going to be kind of annoying. And if all you really want is more ergonomics for your WASD hand... honestly, I still have to move and angle the keyboard, so it doesn't really help there, either.

To me the Alice misses the point of split ergonomic keyboards. They should get rid of the stagger.
@A_Man_Of_Culture_2 жыл бұрын
The alice or arisu is a middle ground, it's better than a standard plank in terms of ergonomics but obviously lacks the adjustability needed for a fully ergo setup. I went with this board because it has better features and sound than any split keyboard out there even if im giving up maybe 20% of the ergo capacity

I’d say it’s “more ergonomic” than a normal keyboard, but yeah, there’s even more ergonomic layouts/designs than this too.
