With it restocking tomorrow I am really considering it as my first alice board, but at the same time I feel that maybe I should wait until july 5th for the keychron k8 as it will solve the issue of south-facing sockets and lack of via while also adding a hefty full alu case albeit at the higher price point of 200.
@YBBK2 жыл бұрын
I believe you mean the keychrom q8. It looks like a great board! I can't help you decide as our preferences, needs, budgets are different. But what I can say is that you can't go wrong with the akko alice, its an amazing board overall!
@neogem2002 жыл бұрын
@@YBBK Yeah my bad the keychron q8 is what I meant, but after watching your vid and others I think I am going to stick it out for the q8 the 70 dollar difference I think is justified going from Acrylic to alu, plus not being restricted to long pole switches or using non-cherry keycaps will allow me to use every switch and keycap set I have with no chance of interference.
@YBBK2 жыл бұрын
@@neogem200 Nice nice! Just keep in mind that the $200 price is for barebones not a full kit. So realistically the difference is closer to $100. Not to mention the expesnive shipping the keychron has. Still a great choice though, just wanted to point it out.

@@YBBK well I’m going to buy it from divinkikey they are affiliated with keychron and offer free shipping so don’t have to worry about that plus I would have replaced the switches and caps anyways so that didn’t factor in my decision making. Screw in stabilisers don't fit through the plate openings. The top case doesn't have screw inserts so the plastic will strip after opening it a few times. Otherwise the board punches way over its class.
@YBBK2 жыл бұрын
As I mentioned, screw in stabilizers with thinner housings should fit fine, I've tried it before. Also, I do agree that without any screw inserts, it is less durable, but after opening and closing the board 10+ times for the video, I did not notice any looseness or stripping.

I know this video is about the ACR Pro Alice but I'm more than a little obsessed with the sound profile of the keyboard at 0:18 seconds. It kind of sounds a bit like the Loki65. Edited to correct keyboard comparison name, I meant the Loki65, not the Link65.

I can't recommend the Akko tbh. It's nice, but has too many annoying issues. North-facing PCB so there's interference, locking you to Akko's own Cherry sets or having to swap out the switches for switches that do not have interference. Then, no actual feet. All of these acrylic Alice/Arisu keyboards have stacked legs to complete the keyboard. Then, there's the software, which is terribly bad, slow, and full of bugs. The key puller I got was badly molded/constructed, so I don't use it. The cable you get with it is also cheap looking and has this toy vibe.
@YBBK2 жыл бұрын
Interesting to hear another perspective, I agree with some of your points and totally respect your opinion! However, you have to keep the low price in mind. There are obviously going to be some trade offs here and there to cut costs. I'd say over all its still an amazing board despite these issues. More and more switches/keycaps are coming out that support north facing sockets so its not completely restricted. Also, if you compare the accessories eg. the cable and switch puller you mentioned, to other kits at this price range, I doubt you'll find any as complete or quality as akkos. Yes, the coiled cable might feel/look cheap, but I'd say its much better than the ones offered on lets say, a vn66, gamakay, or other diy kits such as the mw65.
