As usual perfect!! I think, however, there is a small mistake. At the G2 phase, the text says: "once the chromosomes are replicated and the chromosome number doubles, the cell enters the G2 phase". I think the chromosomes are already 46 (23 homologous pairs). Each of these chromosomes, however, has only one chromatid. Hence after chromosome replication in the S Phase, the number of chromosomes stays at 46 but the number of chromatids doubles (not chromosomes).
@luismadeira31017 жыл бұрын
There is an error in the G2 phase text, "once the chromosome are replicated and the chromosome number doubles" the number of chromosomes stays the same they just get an extra chromatid.

I had one question, the two chromosome joined together through the centromere is called chromatids in this lecture i.e a pair among 46 pairs of original and sister chromatids, but in the previous lecture the same structure is being referred to as a pair among the 23 pairs of chromosome. btw I found your videos quite interest especially the bond energy, hope you could do a playlist that sums up the concepts needed for an Intermediate in Biology to revise.

Only DNA Replicate in S phase but number of chromosome remains the same and only new DNA molecule forms the new chromatin fibres that further condense to form two sister chromatids which attach to each other through a centromere
