@@Kim_Alexander I use a 5D AND a DF; my two favorite DSLR's :D though a bit niche, it would be interesting to see the results from the two compared. I am kind of surprised more of the fuji-esque crowd hasn't sought out the DF; there's not much in the way of reviews online the same way the 5D has tons which I assume is just down to the cost.

@@codyallen3729 Thanks for your coment! For me the DF comes out as one of my all time favorite cameras. I would also say that its in a completely different league compared to the 5D. If you like Fuji you would definitely like the DF. Personally i just like the classic controls since thats how cameras always been and its more effective for me. How ever i think the price is one factor that keep Fuji fanboys away. I'ts good for me because i can buy a new DF later down the road. At the moment im without my a DF. Picket up an X-T2 and an X-100F - An issue i have doing youtube is that i sometime has to offer great cameras in order to get others :) I had the Nikon D700 at the same time as i had the 5D and made some side by side shots with those. I Think i would rank the D700 higher than the 5D. D700 comes out sharper and with a higher saturation and a diffrent tonality.. there is a 3 years difference between them as well in tech, in a period where camera tech made bigger advances on a shorter time. They are all how ever fun cameras and in the very end it comes down to personal tase.

I just did a trial run on my 5D yesterday and it is amazing. The RAW files are great and I really enjoyed the easy operation of the camera. Other than a few minor adjustments in Lightroom such as cropping and straightening, I really don’t see any issues with it. Ok, the screen is bad, but I don’t mind , because it keeps me focused on the moment rather than peeking at the screen.

Guys TRUST ME. Within the next few years the Canon 5D and 6D will triple in demand and value. It's all in the sensor and how it handles highlights and shadows and its unique rendering in editing. iv stacked 5 bodies each all under 10k shutter count. I would'nt sell any of them.

WOW this is a serious video! I need to tell you that I worked as a wedding Photography with a pair of 5D bodies years ago. You can imagine how stressful it was struggling to take pictures in focus in some low light situations with the 5D!!! Besides, protecting the highñights, sometimes was a mission impossible while trying to recover strong shadows, because of the low dynamic range. Those nightmare memories still visit me sometimes LOL. But I never sold my 5D bodies. On the contrary, now I enjoy them in those situations where they RULE. I come from the film era and I couldn't agree more with your comment about the similarity of the 5D to the color slides. Your comment is very precise and accurate. Besides, the basic functions of the 5D are very similar to old film cameras what make the experience really reminiscent to a film camera operation. Nowadays I'm using a 6D as my main body, but not as a professional photographer anymore. The 6D gives me a great joy, watching a similar color rendering like de 5D, but with an extended ISO range, much better screen, much faster data processing, auto ISO operation and a considerably higher dynamic range. It's like a dream come true for me. I really don't need a better camera than the 6D and I still have much fun taking the 5D s to the action from time to time. Thank you for your EXCELLENT video. Greetings from Argentina

I have owned everything from Canon 500D to Sony A7Riii and I must say CAnon 5D "classic" is worth the hyper and far cheaper. It lacks features, but it renders amazing photos. If you have the time, and want to learn/or already know the manual settings to get a good expousre it definetly is worth it. The 6D might be better, but if modern feautres I would go to Sony where you also get focus peaking and better video. Having been photographing for 10 years, I am enjoying the Canon 5D "classic" so much. Theres just something about it.

I worked with the 5D back when it was new. Unlike digital backs from Sinar on Hasselblad bodys , it was actually usable at ISOs above 100 (yes, 100!). At the time, I also used a Nikon D2X and found myself enjoying the Nikon more. With the 5D, I always felt the need to push the saturation adjustments quite a bit. While most colors looked good, some ended up a little funky. On a personal note, I transitioned from the 10D, which I bought new in 2003, to the 5D, which I picked up second-hand in 2006, two years after starting as a commercial photographer in a photo studio. Compared to Nikon's options, I liked the smaller size of the 5D and convinced myself I was a Canon guy. But now, almost 20 years later, I’ve realized I’m actually a Nikon guy in the Canon vs. Nikon debate. That said, the 5D is still riding the hype train - yet its a cool camera but as always it comes down to the skill of the person holding the camera. Just picket up a Leica X2 main question here is does red dot lives up to the hype :)

I have Canon 5D and never felt a film-like photos. I jumped to 5D III,, 5D IV,, R5. Most of my Canon cameras are lightly used and shutter counts were around 7000. I took the step and bought Fujifilm X-H2S. It elevated my enthusiasts to photography, and in 4 months the shutter counts exceeded the 7000. However, it took my attention to film photography. Because, no matter how great Fujifilm in image rendering, it's not a film photography. Now I'm doing my homework to search for a medium format film camera.
@Kim_Alexander7 ай бұрын
Since negative film and a digital image are fundamentally different, they can never be the same! The rumor around the 5D, however, is that Canon tuned the colors to remind users of film. I don't know if this is true or not. What I do know is that film was still a thing when the 5D came out, so it would make sense that it would be more influenced by film than a new camera today. The camera stands out and is somewhat fun to use. It doesn't come near the experience of Fuji, and I agree that Fuji is the kind of camera that brings out the joy of photography. Using the X-H2S, I would say that you have missed out on some of the true Fuji experience that the other cameras provide.

And then what is the best look? put what ever lens you have on it and see what result it yields of you like it then it fine. if you want af a canon nifty 50 cab be bought for a relative small amount of money. check out the 50mm f1.8 on mpb.com with that you have the added bonus of Af, since manual focusing on a DSLR without changing the focus screen to a split image one is quite hard.

I think the 5D is overrated. Its a good camera, however, with some subtle interesting stuff with its colors. It outperforms a lot of other crop sensors, it doesnt hold your hand and feels filmlike in that it doesn't do much for you. I have an R6 and a 5D. It's a good refresher that good images can be taken on any camera. I have a 6D as well I loved until the screen died. I can't tell what photo I took on what camera, it's subtle things. It's also the sacrificial camera for being in a canoe or rainstorm.

It's not unusual that I pick up some old gear to initially be disappointed. Sometimes the gear grows sometimes it doesn't. I worked with the 5D back when it was new it was one of the first cameras that gave our digital backs a match in resolution and beside that it was also great in low light.
