First of all, i really apreciate that you have shared these videos. They are really helpful for me to study anatomy. I just have one question, are both the caudate and quadrate lobes belong to the left lobe functionally? Because in the Clinically Oriented Anatomy it says the caudate lobe may be considered as the "third lobe". The caudate lobe's vascularization is independent of the bifurcation of the triad. Finally, thank u so much again for creating these videos.
@akram.jaffar10 жыл бұрын
The caudate lobe (or segment I) is considered an autonomous segment, it belongs to both right and left lobes: It receives its vessels from the left and right branches of the portal vein and hepatic artery. Its hepatic veins drain directly into the inferior vena cava.
@cutiepie-jx4ww3 жыл бұрын
We study that both lobes belong to the right lobe

It's the Cantlie's line (the plane from the gallbladder fossa to the IVC) that actually separates the right lobe from the left lobe. The falciform ligament divides the left lobe into left medial segment (segment IV/quadrate lobe) and left lateral segment (segments II and III)

Excellent video! Your lectures are excellent! Just a small correction: actually, the right umbilical vein obliterates and makes the teres hepatis ligamentum.
@othmankhaled27537 жыл бұрын
Thank you a lot for your well-illustrated video! If I may, is the caudate/quadrate lobe considered as being part of the left lobe? As the book contradicts itself and says it is part of the right and left lobes
@akram.jaffar7 жыл бұрын
The caudate and quadrate lobes are part of the right anatomical lobe of the liver but they are part of the left physiological lobe of the liver. Read about anatomical and physiological lobes of the liver to sort this issue out.

Interesting! Stabbing pain on right side, inside low end of ribs, 20 years, weight gain of 80 pounds in less 3 months , 2004, high cholesterol, when basically a vegan for 5 years, (until advised to take high protein diet), 100 blood draws, no answer yet...any suggestion, liver seems so logical...sandlike grains on back of hands, about the body on occasion lead me to high toxicity thoughts...anaphylactic response to injected drug 5 years prior to adema, bloating and weight gain. Thanks Patti

thanks sir, but i really wonder how could u hold the liver without any gloves ?
@akram.jaffar8 жыл бұрын
+أحمد حامد This is a plastinated model of the liver. Plastination is a method of embalming by which fresh parts of the body are dissected then converted into plastic material which does not decay and is hard, dry, and odorless.

What the function of ligumentum venosum
@akram.jaffar9 жыл бұрын
+سيزر مان During fetal life, the ligamentum venousu contains a vessel called the ductus venosus which short circuits the liver. In other words, oxygenated blood coming from the placenta enters the fetus through left umbilical vein (ligamentum teres hepatis afterwards), reaches the liver then makes a short cut without all the blood perfusing the liver, so blood passes to ductus venosus which carries it to inferior vena cava as the latter grooves the liver. For more details read about the fetal circulation and what modifications take place after birth. Thank you for your interest in the channel.
@HASSAN-ey2qf6 жыл бұрын
NoThing it’s just a rememant of ductus venous which served as a shunt in fetal circulation
