Dr. Ekberg: Do you happen to disagree with the "medical society agreement" on that saturated fats raises triglyceride levels? Very curious to know your view on this topic! Perhaps an idea for a new video explaining the function of triglycerides in the blood and how saturated fats in diet relates to those? ;-)

hi doc I'm struggling.., I havnt eaten meat for nearly three years apart from good fish like mackerel and wild salmon and it's not sustainable, I really want to go keto but it seems impossible if you don't eat meat?, I've heard and seen loads of stuff on how the vegan diet is best for you and there's alot of health problems associated with eating meats and dairy yet you seem to have some of the best knowledge I have come across online which is contradictory to the latter.. I'm lost in what direction to go? do I start eating meat again to fit in with a keto diet or do I carry on failing at trying to be a vegetarian on keto, obviously you eat meat so I would love to hear your opinion on this! thanks for all the content and unrivalled info! The biggest moment of this video was that people are given the exact opposite advice to get rid of a fatty liver. I got rid of my pregnant look by eating fatty meat and cruciferous green vegetables. I progressed to strict keto and I fast 19:5 every day, whilst only consuming two meals per day. I've lost 103 pounds, reversed prediabetes and kept it that way for two years. All thanks to the correct information.

In the fall of 2019, My ALT and AST's were extremely high. (101 and 103) I was diagnosed with fatty liver disease. The doctor started talking biopsy, medication, and even transplant. When I asked if there was anything I could do, he said, "You could stop eating sugar, But you won't. " I told him I'd see him in ninety days. I went home and threw out everything in my house that had sugar or turned to sugar in the system. I began a strict keto diet. Ninety days later, I had lost sixteen pounds , and went back to the doctor to have a new battery of blood tests. My counts were now thirty one and thirty three. The doctor was astounded. In one year from my initial visit I was able to reverse my liver damage. Although I lost a significant amount of weight, I did not Diet to get slimmer, but to get healthy. Now, it is simply a way of life.

Last year I started feeling fatigued all of the time and could not figure out what was going on. I thought maybe it was stress at first. I went to the doctor and my ALT had risen to 71. An ultrasound confirmed I was developing NAFL. It was a wakeup call. I normally drank a couple times a week and ate a fairly normal unhealthy diet. I also had started taking Alopurinol to treat gout a couple years ago which can affect the liver as well.I haven't had a drink since November. I stopped taking Alopurinol, cut out all sugar, gluten and processed foods. Started 18/6 and periodic fasting. I felt better within two weeks after removing processed foods and my ALT a couple weeks ago was 31. I have also lost 50LB's and went from prediabeic to normal A1c and glucose. The only biomarker that hasn't improved is Uric acid (8.5-12mg/dl). I don't have problems with flareups since I have eliminated chronic inflammation. @@thetree7694 It is very difficult to offer any assistance because we all have different situations. Some basics I eat mostly wholefoods. Nuts, berries, cheese, plenty of vegetables, fish, eggs and occasional some meat (Once a fortnight) If you go keto there is little to no carbs. Your experience of hunger will change dramatically. Start skipping meals, seriously ask yourself if you are actually hungry of just eating out of habit. If you can get down to 2 meals per day, 4 hours apart your body will adapt surprisingly quick I am down to 1 meal per day. I eat mid afternoon and if I am REALLY hungry I will have a snack a few hours later (usually a half a cup of mixed nuts and 2 slices of cheese) My first fast was 3 days, water only and it was rough. But you come out of it knowing alot more about your body and your willpower I have only been walking, started catching the train to work and generally keeping a bit more active, nothing special and no hard exercise. I would like to be running but my back is an issue, slowly slowly

I am so absolutely grateful for information about the importance of liver function & how our organs speak to each other. A sick body is like a group of people who are unable to cooperate with each other all end up suffering. I’ve had 9 of these symptoms for years & my body is screaming. Not one doctor has ever mentioned liver function & how it may be affecting my health. I appreciate the time & effort you put into this video. You’ve spent years learning this material & you’ve given it to me for free. I got info quickly not yrs. I’ve been struggling for answers & there you were. I hope I could change my eating habits. Thank you @Dr.StenEkberg, your videos have changed my life as I was weighing 245, taking high blood pressure medication and had an A1C of 5.7 back on June 15 2021 when I went to my doctor, I’m also 57 years old. Your videos helped me create a plan of action and goals to follow and on December 20th when I returned to my doctor, I had lost 65 pounds bringing my weighing down to 180, my doctor took me off of my blood pressure medication and my A1C dropped to 5.0 and now as of May 12th 2022 I am still maintaining my goal weight of 180 stop eating processed foods and sugar, following an intermittent fast window of 18/6 eating following a keto plan eating 1 ingredient foods including meat and vegetables and limited fruits, 2 times a day between 11am and 5pm, walking 3 miles in my neighborhood park 4 times a week, get 6 to 8 hours of sleep each night, using the breathing exercises I learned to lower cortisol/stress and drinking water when I’m thirsty to stay hydrated, my quality of life is so much better from learning from your teachings, Thank You so much again!!!

I lost my Father to this disease/Nash. He had diabetes but was not very careful about his diet and depended heavily on medications. Unfortunately, the liver is the endless worker of the body and symptoms appear very late in the progression of the disease. Then, it all depends on how young you are because there are very few options except transplant. That was the case for my father. I am really glad that there is growing awareness of this as I would not wish what my family went through on anyone else. It progresses very quickly so prevention is key.

It's so true. I'm no expert, but I have learnt so much over the past 6 years changing old habits. 1. No more teeth issues 2. No more allergy I had for 18 years 3. Spots gone 4. Dry skin fixed Etc It took time of just adjusting things, but it gradually improved. Just think about what you are doing often and try changing it for a month and see what improves or not. Don't bother trying to take fix it with creams or whatever, whilst continuing with the same eating/drinking habits. You will just waste money on products, whilst the issue never gets fixed. If you stop the old habits and fix it without products, you save money on both together. If you can't go 1 month without sugar, soda, etc, then you must admit to yourself that you may have a problem 😉👍

@@japanluv hi, mainly I reduce to almost zero carbs, of course no sugars ..but I increased saturated animal fats mainly and eggs. Breakfast 3-4 eggs lightly cooked, 3-4 slices of bacon , increased fresh salads , and ate also lots of fresh tuna ..I am and live in Ecuador so we have all these foods fresh and cheap. Also, years before this semi Keri diet I cleaned my bowels with water enemas which was the first big change in my overall health..and energy feeling...but still had the tryglicerids high..tried everything I always exercised etc to lowering it..nothing worked till moving into this diet and did it by blood test before and after..one month ..I could not believe it..now, few months ago I did a blood test for liver fats markers with my wife and I have better markers than hers she is younger and doesn't follow this diet eating carbs and she is not high in weight ...I also was not overweight ever... Anyway , in short, eat 80% meats with fats, fresh salads of all vegetables and 20% or less carbs and you will see the changes... If you haven't done enemas it's OK but I recommend to everybody who had constipation for a while in their lives to clean at least once the bowels just in case ...best luck happy to help follow Drs advice on video.... I have a kidney condition and went plant based for few years until I fractured my ankle at work and started to eat again eggs and sardines now I eat kefir, good quality eggs, smoothies in the mornings. I ate good amounts of bread the last 2 years so for me I think high tryglycerides are triggered by things with wheat flour. My ex partner is from Colombia. Our 6 years old daughter is eating plant based since birth. They are currently in Colombia since 2020, I would love to visit Ecuador as well. I am familiar with enemas ( haven’t tried yet but I have an enema kit at home somewhere, I moved few times recently), I also do fasting my maximum is 4 days with coconut water only. The last few months due to work in the clinic, I got used to do some type of intermittent fasting, my first meal is at 5 PM and I consume water and one coffee till that time. My problem is after the meal at 5pm, many times I eat late as well like 11 pm. I need to concentrate my food between 5 and 8 pm. Thank you for all of your advice. I will do some changes to my current habits. Bread helped me and dairy as well to counteract effect of meat ( I had two gout episodes so far when I was plant based but had some meat once in a while it happened). My main concern is the reason for chronic fatigue the real cause of it and reduce my tryglycerides and cholesterol. I don’t even look fat, I look well built and younger as a 42 years old male.
