KPIT (Automotive Tech) could be the challenger as well as Mahindra Tech - this is a subsidiary of Tata Motors into Niche Areas. It's like Edtech, Fintech and what not. TCS is more like the General Tech even before Cloud Computing and 4th Industrial Revolution while Elxsi is More into Last Part of 3rd Industrial Revolution (Cloud Computing of PaaS/Platforms and SaaS/Apps) as well as 4th Industrial Revolution Tech. Quite Different each 1 though TCS could be the Overlapping 1 in Both Elxsi and Tata Tech

I'm from the same R&DS Industry, fully agree with you growth for past 4 years is around 9% only. One thing to add is tata elxsi is very much in to hardware also. They do offer mechanica, industrial and embedded solution. Both of these companies do compete in a way. It is interesting to know how TATA group take a stand in this front. Agree in short term tata elxsi price would drop

I think tata tech came about the time they were thinking of the nano car and it was a spinoff from the main tata motors group. To the best of my understanding they were still hardcore mechanical engineering or automobile engineering guys and not software. Maybe the entire concept kept on getting more and more modified as time passed and mechanical became electronics. But I don't know if tata tech will affect tata elxi because, they are both in different fields and tata tech was already in existence for a long time alongside tata elxi

Hi Akshat, thanks for the video. KPIT Tech and Tata Elxsi have similar business. Tata Elxsi has better ROCE & OPM. It’s trading at lesser PE of 65 compared to KPIT Tech PE of 86. Got your point that Tata Elxsi may be under pressure. Can we compare Tata Technology which is into hardware business ( relatively low margins) with high end software business of Tata Elxsi ?

Elxsi has much higher margins compared to both TCS, Tata Tech or anyone else in a similar domain for that matter and should continue to command a premium over its peers.

Akshat, you cannot compare ipo price of tata tech to market price of tata elexi, once listed tata tech will also trade at same PE as auto sector and mid caps are in bubble now,, I remember tata elexi around 600-800 many years back trading below 20 PE,, nothing great going to happen to tata elexi or tata tech,, good for short term traders, once tesla comes in, it will be like apple iPhone going to capture market in India,, Now most sector except for pharmaceutical and some select large caps are worth buying,, mid caps are in huge bubble now, it may take 1 year or 3 yrs to burst,, as usual retail guys will be the last to exit 😊

Your fundamental research was a little short. Tata tech is also into software like ADAS, auto pilot, media and digital controls for auto, mfg industries etc etc The biggest negative is that captive revenue is huge from tata motors, JLR if I’m not wrong almost 40%

Yes, the major cleints of tata tech are tata motors and JLR, nearly 40% of tata tech revenues comes from these parent brands (as you said) but ig this isn’t a bad thing as the relationship with the parent just means that Tata Technologies is assured of a certain business coming their way.
