Akuma no Ko - Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 ED [Piano]

「Akuma no ko」by Ai Higuchi is one of my favorite Attack on Titan songs of all times because the emotional impact of the chorus is simply incredible. The lyrics of 「Akuma no ko」finally reveals Eren’s true feeling about Mikasa: Despite the fact that they living in a cruel world, he still wants to protect and love her until the very end.
① The colorful flower field 1:08
Ai Higuchi’s powerful voice, the grandiose orchestra sound and the sudden key change - everything just comes together perfectly in the chorus melody. The ED animation when Eren’s surrounding changes into a colorful flower field is also masterfully done and it’s emphasizing the lyrics in the most beautiful way possible.
By playing endlessly long scales in the middle range, I am trying to recreate the colorful flower field on the piano with the flower petals dancing in the wind. This arrangement style is difficult to master because the scales are played without any interruption and I needed to coordinate my hand switching very precisely to play all the voices simultaneously.
② How to make the piano go even beyond forte 2:34
The bridge part is where the music is usually reaching its first climax and I wanted to make the piano sound even more powerful than the chorus part. I am using the three-hand technique here again and I decided to play the background melody in a very high range this time. Because the bigger the voice range difference, the more the piano will sound like a full orchestra.
③ A moment of silence 3:57
I added an extended “epilogue” in 3:57 to bring the chapter Attack on Titan to a proper closure. The melody is slowing down and seems to almost disappear in 4:29, reflecting Eren’s fate in Attack on Titan. And at the very end in 4:33, I played the intro melody again but this time in a major key, to give all the characters of Attack on Titan a proper send-off.
I also happened to have a similar wine-red scarf like Mikasa and I decided to place it on the piano keys at the end of the video as tribute to Eren. May he find peace at the end of his long journey.
There are only two more episodes left until we can finally witness the grand conclusion of the Attack on Titan saga. And I am pretty sure, this is going to be a legendary moment for many anime fans in the world.

If we wanna get into specifics, I'd say Josh Agarrado or Pianeet are the legit founders, I don't think there were anipiano content creators before them. Maybe Theishter started around the same time I'm not too sure. But Animenz is basically the Eren Jaegar of this community. Always fighting and never giving up, growing with new Titan abilities and improving. And technically a Founding Titan as well because of when his channel was made in respect to the first anipianists. And Ishy is Reiner because everyone is asking for him to return and make new covers but he just wants to be left in peace💀

My "Analysis" (Spoiler Warning): - B-F#-E-F#-A ostinato --> Feeling of caged in - 0:39 "Because we are all free. If we have wings like birds, we could go anywhere." 👉 No ostinato, melody and bass more free = slightly freed of the caged. - 1:08 "This world is cruel, but I still love you. Even if I sacrifice everything, I will protect you." 👉 Up and down scales, moving freely between both hands = truly free(?), going through each highs and lows to protect his friends. - 1:29 "Even if this is a mistake, I don’t doubt it. What is right is believing in myself strongly." 👉 Steadfast and firm bass notes = believing in himself + in 1:39 the ostinato returns alone = acting himself, even if what he's doing is wrong. Hint that he’s not really free. Believes he can save his friends with his actions alone though - 1:46 Time is ticking, has to act before his home and freedom is taken. - 1:51 "A scene of iron rain falling. It looked like a movie on TV. War is a stupid, violent thing, Why should I care about countries I don’t even care about." 👉 Melody in highest register, daunting and frightening feeling. They love each other, they tried, but in the end they couldn't properly communicate - 3:33 "Behind my righteousness, surrounded by sacrifice, in my heart is a child of evil." - 3:38 Animenz actually repeats the last line, which is not in the original. - 3:44 Similar to "My Dearest [10th Anniversary]" at 6:58 and maybe "Sincerely" at 5:10 onwards. Eren was never truly free, he just fought for it for his friends, but mainly himself. Most is probably not true, but please just let me dream (I will probably update it as I feel like it). It's really heartbreaking to listen to "Massarana Daichi", which is about Mikasa. Please give it a listen! 1:06 The emphasis there is wonderful. Slight rubato and pull back makes that section feel slightly mysterious and almost as if hesitant / unsure if they want to move on or not 1:09 Jeezzz when I first heard this on the livestream I was absolutely SHOOK. I was totally expecting some arpeggios + threehand (guess I can still keep that for my arrangement huhu), but the SCALES did such a brilliant job at representing the wonderful flourishes and runs from the strings in the original. This. Was. Marvelous. The perfect ending an anime can get. The harmonies are breathtaking. Paired with your technique, it's even better. This ending hits completely different from all the others. To be completely honest, I don't even remember any ending from SNK, as they never really stood out to me; but this one... I don't think I'll ever be able to forget it. Those last seconds of Eren vanishing in the wind are burned into my retinas. It was sad and tear inducing and beautifully cruel; but I still love it.
