Ah yes. The soundtrack to quite possibly the most cruel and sadistic Castlevania game: Akumajo Dracula x68000. A game that taunts you with ridiculous enemies, cheap deaths, terrifying bosses, and beautiful graphics and music. A nuanced and lived-in demon castle for the hero to discover, if he makes it past the water level or the werewolf boss that is. Truly the definitive version of Simon's first adventure.

Can't get past the Werewolf, the clock tower is gruesome, but i find Castlevania III and Rondo to be more difficult and frustrating. What a masterpiece though, i won't stop trying.

@@efuuu Same here. I love CV3 and Rondo even with the difficulty. I beat CV3 with save states a year or two ago but back in the day i wouldn't have lasted too long lol.

Definitely not the most cruel and sadistic. Haunted Castle, aka Akumajou Dracula arcade, is utter insanity.

​@@efuuuit is not. Is a well made game but people hate it because is an arcade game: a cash grab machine. The game is impressive for the time and most important, fun.

this soundtrack is on sale still and available. the album contains 4 versions of the soundtrack contained in castlevania chronicles that was on the ps1 system. it has all music formats available. check it out. very much worth the money. castlevania.wikia.com/wiki/Castlevania_Chronicles_Original_Soundtrack

@@ViewpointProd the ps1 version contains fm synth, heard here, the roland mt-32 cm64 midi module, and the sc55 midi module. They are all selectable depending on your x68000 setup. The 4th version is heard in arrange mode on the ps1.

Can you fix the flac link here too ? I wonder if the sound is not a bit too bright ? (high on trebles). There is settings (sampling rate etc..) in Hoot ? This recording : kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYPOg6VjlpeHh7s seems slightly less harsh.

Yes, you can adjust the sampling rate within HooT. I've set it correctly according to X68000's OPM chip: 62400Hz This is how it's supposed to sound, and how it would've sounded if you connected the headphone port of the X68000 to the line-in input of any soundcard (provided the correct sampling rate was used when recording)
