Al Green had a way of turning his voice to smooth silk at his live shows. A great vocal range, and every note and word he sang just made me feel all warm inside. His records are good, but they were time restrained for radio play. He turned it lose when performing live, as you saw here. Great reaction, and looking forward to you reacting to him more ✌️

This performance was in New York City, New York, not Soul Train which originated in Chicago, IL. and then moved to Los Angeles, CA. This is most likely from the program "Soul!" it was a pioneering performance/variety television program in the late 1960s and early 1970s produced by New York City NET and PBS outlet, WNDT, which later became WNET during its run. It showcased African American music, dance and literature.

This tune was written after a breakup of the Bee Gees. “How Can You Mend A Broken Heart”, originally released by The Bee Gees, was the lead single on the Bee Gees album Trafalgar. Primarily written by Barry and Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees, this song was the groups first U.S. number one hit! The song was written after a period of distance between the brothers. The writing of the song helped bring the brothers back together. Billboard ranked the track as No. 5 song for the year of 1971. Lyrically, the song is genius. Its central question about how to mend a broken heart is answered in one word never actually uttered by Robin Gibb: Love.
