"People are going to say that they don't deserve to be there" TM Landry students have openly stated that they exaggerated the stories of urban poverty and such in their essays to gain admission to these schools. TM Landry students have not been able to keep up at these schools because they haven't received the rigorous education that was claimed on their transcripts. They took away spots from people that have actually needed to overcome these obstacles. If you falsify your credentials, you don't deserve to be there. I would have sympathy if these kids ACTUALLY OVERCAME the obstacles they talked up in their admissions essays, but it just wasn't the case.

They aren't the only ones who don't "deserve" to be there. Rich white people have been paying for seats for their undeserving children to get into these schools for DECADES so don't act like this is some new phenomenon.

Principal Scratcher Did I ever say it was a new phenomenon? or that rich white people deserve to buy their way into schools? The point is that there are people who overcame the obstacles the kids claimed they did in the applications, and it’s disingenuous to falsify this kind of thing.

Principal Scratcher Not to mention that they’re also entirely co-opting of other black students who actually do have these lived experiences. It’s a class issue too

More abuse victims came forward since you made this video. On December 6, local media reported that TEN new abuse victims went to the Breaux Bridge Police with abuse allegations.

Public schools have not failed them, their parents and culture failed them. Why is that so hard to see?!,

Sandii 4u I don’t think you’ve seen public schools that have mostly poor black children. In our history, powerful white men have tried to stop blacks from becoming educated. It all starts from the beginning of U.S. history. Slaves were not able to learn because the slave owners did not want them to become educated enough where they could end up becoming smarter than the slave owner. They did not want their slaves to run away with a good education under their belt where they could survive in the outside world. They didn’t want blacks to be able to have any power in society. Even after slavery ended, blacks came out still uneducated. There were no schools for them yet. A lucky few were able to seek education or help from nice white people but the rest that weren’t able to get any education were already destined for failure. The rest of the black people had to end up in becoming “paid slaves”. And, those that tried to to own their own land or business would get duped. See, to own land or create your own business you might have to get a loan and sign papers. Now, they just had to trust that everything they signed didn’t have anything extra added to it. But, most of the time they were basically signing their life away. Debt for the rest of their life always owing it to the white man. Now, when schools did come around for black people, it was segregated. And, the back schools did not have as nearly as much supplies and higher education as the white schools did. So, what happens to those black kids with a bad education added to blacks not being able to get the same high paid jobs as the whites? Well, they become poor adults. And, when segregation finally ended segregation started to show in a different way. A hidden way. Segregate the neighborhoods by class which had already started some before segregation. Now, anyone in each city had to stay in their city. And since blacks already did not have enough money they had to stay in the lower class area which still did not have a good education or supply’s. And, the white people were able to move to the middle class neighborhoods where good schooling stood. And this still stands today. So, when a poor child grows up with a bad education and there’s no way in them getting a good one. They resort to doing bad things for money. And, growing up in that bad neighborhood surely does not help. Kids will be influenced by their environment and will grow up into those horrible parents your thinking of. So, it most definitely is public schools that have failed the children. Public schools is all they can afford and living in a poor city. Means not enough money to fund a good education. Now, I don’t know if you mean American culture or black culture. But, if your talking about the black culture than blame it on history. Not on them. They are stuck in a never ending cycle unless they catch a big break or the rest of the people fix it!

You're wrong. The public schools in Breaux Bridge are awful and filled with apathetic, lazy teachers and staff. This isn't to say the parents of these kids aren't also at fault. Who in their right mind just blindly accepts it when a school administrator informs them they should not ask their kids anything about school.

@Kyle D. Arthur The left WILL maintain the black vote, because rather than promoting unity and compromise that leads to viable solutions, the right spurs division and hate. The same is true for the left. Our two party system is broken and people are too busy delighting in feuding with and despising their neighbors to realize it.

Public schools stink because the teachers can't get fired. You ain't doing your 100% unless you're scared of loosing your job if you don't.

This shouldn't be an indictment on charter schools. St. Martin Parish historically has paid the least money per student on education in the state if not the entire United States. In addition answers to standardized tests were given to students.

@JJ Squad Landry admitted to physically assaulting kids and even pled guilty to it. Further, if you are a TM Landry student, and this is how you communicate, especially when defending your alma mater, well, that's extremely telling about the school you attended. I mean, you, literally, lack the basic written communication skills that most people learn in elementary school.
@girlfromsouth214

@JJ Squad Wow, did they not even teach you the difference between "off" and "of?" Second, do you really lack the general knowledge to realize that addressing an individual by their last name is totally appropriate? For example, when a news article discusses Donald Trump, it is acceptable to, throughout the article, address him merely as "Trump." This is all basic knowledge that students receiving a decent high school education would know. Finally, you are basically calling the brave families who went to the NYT liars. In the words of my momma, "Don't dish it out, if you can't take it."
