With this article, Ms. Green has saved countless students from the heartache those students who were brave enough to come forward experienced. The students, teachers and families are heroes in my eyes.

This was a really good interview. It is nice to see the hyperbole stripped back and a proper discussion held about what went on and what the consequences will be. This is an extreme case, but it wouldn't surprise me if it is going on to a lesser extent at most schools across the country.

More abuse victims came forward since you made this video. On December 6, local media reported that TEN new abuse victims went to the Breaux Bridge Police with abuse allegations. Ms. Green, again, you (and the families) are truly a hero for painting such a clear picture of what is happening at the school.

They lied and weren't qualified to attend these institutions. Not to mention, they took spots for deserving candidates -__- . Furthermore, they did themselves a disservice because they weren't up to par with other students in those IVY league schools! IM SO ASHAMED OF BEING BLACK RIGHT NOW!

Amelia Sue I am ashamed of the “cult” leader, not the kids. Of course this isn’t the kids fault! I am disgusted that anyone would do this to any amount of kids! They should be able to attend school and get an education. A good normal man or woman wouldn’t do anything close to what those awful cult leaders have done. I feel this is a great injustice against kids who just wanna go to college.

Thing is you should be ashamed of being American. This guy is just assimilating to a larger corrupt culture. Whites have been doing this for years unfortunately and just getting a slap on the wrist and you don't here about it. Just google SAT scams, all white, coaches paying off high school students knowing they can't complete the curriculum but coach makes millions for winning games. There are some white parents who have been paying for years for others to take their kids SAT, submitting false info on applications, big money bribes to schools. You have to recognize who controls the narrative of the media. Never be ashamed of the color of your skin. Help change the narrative.

Affluent schools teach the tests. White and Asian children typically perform better on these exams for that reason. I was trained as a so called African American to take these exams since 4th grade; I then spent many years tutoring these exams. Decades later I can still test into any job , school or program in the top 1%. I’m not unique or especially advanced in anything. They flagged this school for producing too many “African American “ advanced students. This is nothing more than the usual Jim Crow antics delivered via blackface white supremacy.

People of all types abuse others, I agree. However there is only one System in place to be the advantage of some and deliberate hinderance to others.White supremacy, either you are supporter of it or you are not. The choice is yours but black people did not create this. If you take offense to the term or being associated with it then work to dismantle it; otherwise just enjoy the system created for you.

What reason would I have to make a excuse? I explained that I did receive a great public school education due to the zip code I was born into. I also know that this is not the norm for black Americans because of the system in place. Those of you that are personally offended with me calling out the system must be so aligned with the system it feels as if I kicked your dog. I never said white people but you all are placing yourselves in it. Lol

Kkk and Nazi types work in all fields and don’t necessarily attend meetings. Many of them congregate on KZbin, Twitter and Facebook. These things didn’t exist before so as the world changes so does our understanding of the term. If you are for things that uphold a racist system you are a white supremacy agent with or without hood.

Who controls the media, the courts, the system. This guy unfortunately just tried to assimilate to the larger corrupt culture that exist. 3/13/2019 50 people arrested mostly white, look at guy taking SATs in Boston, 7 arrested, 16 arrested, 13 in China arrested. Comments like yours just shows how America has failed to teach tolerance and reconcile it's racist history.

"there are already doubts about their potential" but yet you write an article to help further perpetuate the same narrative already about certain students. I understand the importance of an investigation of misconduct, however I just hate the affect this article will have no matter the intention. As the interviewer asked her, did you think of the consequences this will have on students who are a product of this school? I think people are so focused on breaking a story they forget the impact not only the people they are reporting about have on the children but also the reporters/medias actions as well. Where is the follow up piece of what needs to happen to help children as described in the article. Yes you broke the story but now what? Printing an article and exposing the symptom of a deeper rooted issue is a discredit to everyone because now all we are focused on is what happened and not the conditions that contributed to such and the changes needing to be made in the educational system to have children who are not afforded opportunities to reach their full potential.

I think that anyone who have stayed long enough in that school would have had problems regardless of whether the article was published or not. As long as they were unqualified for the universities / the future jobs that they would have had they would have still had problems, regardless of the reputation of certain students. I would prefer if the wealth that have gone to the founders of the school are redistributed to the students for them to get an actual education. This would probably be beyond the capabilities for one reporter to do alone though, which is why I think it's good that this story went viral.

Witch hunt? Yeah ok! So all the kids that dropped out because college was to hard?! They were in classes that they never prepped for at this school. He admitted to hitting a child and the other one was closed because the cops said it was not in their jurisdiction. But not to worry, charges are coming.
@LuminanceLiteracyPartners
@LuminanceLiteracyPartners 5 жыл бұрын
@@melanyndoll Yes, I actually took time to examine the article fully. Charges have come-- prior to the written article in the Times-- and Mike Landry was placed on probation. The parents were upset with the outcome, so they went to the NY Times. He may be charged again, we'll see. These parents sound like they have an ax to grind. If they really wanted to protect families in the community, why didn't they go to local authorities first? Like the AJC and the Atlanta cheating scandal? That was easy to believe because it started with local news outlets and spread outward. I'll tell you what else will come-- a lawsuit for slander against this reporter and the NY Times. Another thing, how many students have dropped out? We all know that kids drop out of college--for various reasons--all the time. The article never explored what percentage of students had successful outcomes in college vs. those who did not achieve the desired results. It was sloppy reporting all around. I saw holes throughout her reporting. I know because I was a journalist (a long time ago) and I have taught journalism in public school. People are quick to believe negative news without thinking about the implications or the causes. What does this reporter have to gain? The NY Times? The angry parents? What do all of them gain by publishing this article?
@melanyndoll
@melanyndoll 5 жыл бұрын
What does one have to gain with this article? 46 people have an axe to grind?! She also states that she spoke with the kids that are in the Ivy Leaguers, and they backed the accusations. One of the girls called her writing childish. It is no witch hunt and I'm more than sure a REPUTABLE company like the NYT would not have reported this, if they didn't do an investigation or have proof to back it up. I doubt they would mess with their reputation over a 'witch hunt '
