Its unusual unique red and white candy cane striped minarets towering over its surroundings, persuades anyone to turn and look not once or twice but many times over and over.
A striking architectural wonder, a scared place to worship, Al Jamiul Alfar Masjid or colloquially known as Red mosque is a remarkable and simply stunning creation in the midst of the chaos of Pettah.
Built in Indo Islamic architecture, its unique feature is each brick coloured in red and white, giving its own distinct character and style. May be you didn’t know that the reason behind its exclusive red colour is connected to the fruit
pomegranate.
