Not only that but he goes on about how Hogan and Andre was the best match at WM3. He said it was what sold the most tickets so it was what was the best match (I can say on a certain level I agree with that but on a completely realistic level he is so far off that it's almost painful). By his own logic he never had a great match.

To be more specific, Snow was booked to go over, but towards the end of the match, Dirty Dick Slater started throwing a series of stiff shoot punches, and some pretty snug working punches. The WWE sent Black Bart out to interfere, and Bart and Dirty Dick Slater proceeded to attack Snow with legitimate stiff shoot punches, and a TON of snug working punches.

Al Snow was a former European Champion, 6 time Hardcore Champion, and World Tag Team Champion. Not many real jobbers (local jobbers) can even lay claim to having a list of accomplishments in the WWE like that. At best, he might have been a jobber to the stars which is a step above.
@whtevr84
@whtevr84 4 жыл бұрын
@@Cestro The European Championship lost any merit it had the year it was created, it was a bullshit title that had no expressed worth as a status elevator, and the Hardcore championship was literally a joke championship, once again it did nothing to elevate the person holding the belt and was just a lower card booking tool in lieu of booking a story that had any storyline driven personal heat Neither of those belts represent any upper elevation or status to the person holding them, which makes them essentially worthless
@Cestro
@Cestro 4 жыл бұрын
@@whtevr84 Considering the European title was once held by men like Shawn Michaels, Owen Hart and British Bulldog, it still meant something. Those three names alone make a good enough lineage for any champion to follow even if they fail to become main eventers. To say otherwise would be to piss on the legacies of the Hall of Famers I just mentioned. Regardless, no real (local) jobber/competitor would ever win as many matches or hold the number of titles (worthless or not) as Al Snow did. Did he lose more matches than he won? Yes but to call him a jobber is a gross misuse of the word. That word gets thrown around way too much and way too easily these days. Mostly by young fans who probably didn't watch wrestling before the 2000's and the rise of John Cena. A low card roster jobber is more like Brooklyn Brawler or Jim Powers. At worst, Al Snow was more of a lower mid card wrestler on the roster in his heyday. He was still mildly successful compared to many other so called "jobbers" in the business during that time.
@whtevr84
@whtevr84 4 жыл бұрын
@@Cestro The European title had a chance to be elevated into a title that meant something after Shawn held it, but unfortunately he treated it like a joke, and the belt remained a worthless title afterwards, just look at the way the title switched hands afterwards, the matches were a joke as well as the "prestige" of being the European champion, there was no place for the belt or any importance really attached to it besides just being a belt, it was about as worthless as Jarrett's NWA championship that he was parading with in early 1998 Compare it to a real tertiary singles championship like the TV championship that was held in WCW and various NWA territories past, and the "prestige" of the Euro title can be seen for what it was, a new tertiary championship that was introduced by the WWF but was given no real thought outside of being a trophy title for Davey Boy Smith, and it was never more than that, and never treated with any seriousness...it was worthless That's not a reflection on the real stars who happened to hold it, it just means the championship did nothing to elevate the person holding it And I know what a jobber is in the traditional sense, why are fans from my generation so damn pretentious about their fandom? Everybody's a millenial no-nothing Cena fan except the guy throwing that claim around huh? You'll be SHOCKED to know I likely know more than you do about what you're arguing, leave the Cena card at home Al was a jobber in all the ways that mattered at most points of his career in the big leagues, he was somewhere between Hardcore Holly and The Blue Meanie as far as for how utterly disposable he was for most of his career and what he accomplished Not a bad worker (well according to the standards he says makes a worker great he fails), but he was never much of a star if he was a star at all, he had his moments as an entertainer, but a JTTS is still a jobber...it's part of the acronym after all....funny thing is he wasn't even worthy of jobbing to any big stars most of the time either

So, the misconception that he was nothing more than a jobber and was not successful. A guy who talks about how the only thing that matters is being well known, getting heat and making money. And then talks about how people had never heard of him until he was in ECW, even though he had been working FIFTEEN YEARS (not true but OK) before joining ECW. By his own philosophy on success, how do you work for over 15 years and nobody knows who you are? You must've not have been very successful.

The business of pro wrestling was much different when he first started back in the 80's. Kayfabe was still alive and ticking. It was the land of the giants. Guys were much bigger and larger than life with their characters. In those days, it was much harder for guys like him to break through the ceiling and gain recognition and fame for their work inside the ring and out. Al Snow only started to break through somewhat in the late 90's when kayfabe finally died and the Attitude Era took off.
