Playing 2d games as a kid actually made u a smarter faster reacting person in the real world,they were tough as hell to beat and required constant timing of jumps increasing our real world reaction times in certain situations,it has me.long live old school gaming👍

Yes, according to experts it was one of the top arcade games of 1988, having to compete with Ninja Gaiden, Ghouls and Ghosts, Altered Beast, Cabal, Super Contra and that monster called Tetris.

I mastered this game at age 17. I used to do "no hit" runs. 100% every bonus stage, complete the entire game without taking a single hit. And I always perfectly managed my big gun so I always had enough shots to take out every boss in less than 2 seconds.

@@D0ve5s Not really...it's a short game, and the enemies come from the same place every time. All you have to do is remember what's coming when, and then save 2 shots from the big gun to kill bosses instantly.

Remember this arcade so clearly. It would be in every amusement arcade I went to while on holidays in the late 80s early 90s! I'll never forget that music that plays at the start on the red screen with the high score list. Hearing it instantly takes me back to my childhood being on holidays.

This doesn't do justice to how good the graphics were, you need to see it in a CRT screen to appreciate it. Of course this is the case for all old games, but Robocop specially had amazing visuals.

Used to stop at the local corner store that had this and complete it before heading to school. Then they got Empire City 1931.....that was a tough game to master but a great challenge. Then a little later the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game came on the scene. Places for FOUR players on the one machine. *Mind....bloooown*

Superb coin-op! I had so many great times playing this in my local arcade. On the version I played, at around 6:22 you could inch towards the orange barrel as it slowly enters the screen and shoot with cobra assault canon and your score would rocket up as you stood there. I'd wait until about 0:29 left on the clock and beat the boss with about 2 seconds left 😎 Did anyone else use this trick for high-scores?

Nice! I also used to be able to finish this on one credit back in the day.. you do a few of the earlier stages slightly differently than me. Vital to get the 100% on the 2 firing ranges!! These days I struggle from the OCP stage and can't usually finish it!
