I used to be a champ at this game. Loved the turbo mechanic. One of my fav arcade games of a ALL TIME!

Not quite a fan of the OST for this game, but I enjoy the nod they did of the parts selection music being a direct nod to Fantasy Zone. Even with the OST not being as memorable, this is still a fun game, but it was HARD for me when I was a kid. Still an awesome playthrough and it was fun watching this. 😎

Awesome and sensational Outrun's second game, exceptionally produced by Yu Suzuki and wonderfully directed by Satoshi Mifune(Virtua Striker)

incredible work, it's so good. My only one wish is that the main car sprite would be lower down on the screen (for example if you look at the original first Outrun arcade game, the Ferrari is placed at the bottom of the screen), which imo feels much better when you are playing the game, you get a better view of the road ahead and a better feel of space and distance

Yeah I remember enjoying playing it back then as a young lad about to start High School. Thing was, I kept getting 'Game Over' at Denver. Nevertheless, more recently it did eventually inspire me to rent a red-colored car (but no Ferrari, or no lass in white dress and red high heels, sorry) and drive across entire USA from MIA to LA, divided into various sectors. Fortunately, no 'Game Over' on this occasion; I did manage to complete the course!

The sexy woman in the short white sleeveless dress with red high heel shoes is a great WWE 2K22 wrestler creation.

Gotta love the classic legendary game "outrun", no matter what genre and type of console, never go old this game, collectors gold I'd say.

The only thing I didn't like was that there was only one path. I preferred the original (as well as OutRunners), where you could select a path when you get to a fork in the road.

The turbo boost in the Need for Speed series is very handy at times but in this classic game it just explodes you forward.

Looks gorgeous, but I think i prefer Jeroen Tel's soundtrack for the C64 version!

The C64 version is excellent - a Jeroen Tel music tour de force with a game included on the tape 😄

What does the special turbo upgrade do? Slow to overheat? Cools down faster? Faster speed? What?

Not aged well, it just looks like a mess of sprites. The original 86 outrun on the other hand has aged like fine wine.

The bigger issue is the flagrant geographical inaccuracy. Pittsburgh I can understand, but Atlanta is hardly a winter wonderland. St. Louis, Memphis and NOLA are flat as pancakes. Dallas has a bunch of lakes, so I'll let that pass, but palm trees in the Metroplex are mostly confined to master-planned suburban communities that didn't exist on a large scale in 1989, when this game was released.

Boring, unplayable, badly designed and poorly balanced, ugly crap with horrific noise instead of music. Low camera point of view with too big car sprite, short cliche stages. Laughable excuse of a game. Certainly NOT worthy sequel of FANTASTIC original Outrun.
